A family travelled to 32 countries with their toddler in tow – just using their annual leave.

Alex Stroud, 26, and her husband, Scott, 32, maximise their 25 days of annual leave to visit six countries or more a year with their daughter, Adelaide, two.

The pair have never been the type to book time off work "to do nothing" and found themselves itching to explore the world.

00:00 Here are some top tips on how to travel cheaply and effectively with or without children.
00:04 The first one is Skyscanner.
00:06 Skyscanner lets you compare loads of different airlines so that you can find the best flight times and prices.
00:11 It also has this travel everywhere feature so that you can find the cheapest places to plan your holiday around.
00:16 For accommodation we nearly always book through Airbnb because having your own kitchen space means that you can save money on eating out and food.
00:22 Plus you can find some fun places to stay.
00:24 If you're travelling with children then try and find somewhere that's already set up for you.
00:28 If you manage to find somewhere that's already got all of the amenities then you can save some space and some money on extra luggage.
00:33 We actually managed to do this recent trip to Iceland using just hand luggage with our two year old.
00:37 We snuck some nappies into the bottom of her pushchair carrier which I'm not sure is allowed but we've always got away with it.
00:42 And as the pushchairs are free to come on the plane anyway you might as well use the space.
00:46 We also like to spread out the costs so one month we'll pay for flights, one month we'll pay for accommodation and the next we'll pay for activities.
00:53 But it just means that we don't feel the hit all in one go and by the time you come to your holiday it kind of feels like it's free because you've already paid for it.
00:58 Lastly just don't go where everyone else is going because chances are it's going to be more expensive and overwhelmed with tourists.
01:03 We recently chose a trip to Samoa over Fiji and it was incredible. It was just as beautiful and it was so much cheaper.
01:09 So if you do some research to find somewhere less popular you could save yourself so much money.
01:13 If you live and work in the UK in an average 9-5 job this is how you can get the most holiday you possibly can in 2024.
01:19 So the 1st of January is a bank holiday so if you book off the 2nd to the 5th you get the rest of the week off giving you 9 days consecutively between the 30th of December and the 7th of January.
01:27 Then there are two bank holidays around the Easter time so the 29th of March and the 1st of April are bank holidays.
01:32 So if you book the 25th to the 28th off and the 2nd to the 5th you then get 16 days in a row using only 8 days of annual leave.
01:39 Then there are two bank holidays in May so the 6th and the 27th are bank holidays.
01:43 If you book off the 7th to the 10th you get 9 consecutive days in a row and if you book off the 28th to the 31st you get another 9 days in a row.
01:51 Then if you use the other bank holiday that's in August on the 26th and you book off the 27th to the 30th you get another 9 days in a row using only 4 days of annual leave.
01:59 And then around Christmas it does depend on what hours and what days you have to work but as standard you get off the 25th and the 26th for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
02:06 So if you book the 23rd, the 24th and the 27th off you'll get another 9 days going from the 21st to the 29th.
02:12 Number 1 Spain. Number 2 Slovenia. Number 3 France. Number 4 Malta. Number 5 Belgium. Number 6 Egypt.
02:34 Number 7 Croatia. Number 8 Japan. Number 9 South Korea. Number 10 Iceland. Number 11 Singapore.
02:57 Number 12 New Zealand. And number 13 which is right now Samoa.
