00:00 I mean, I think we've all seen
00:02 sailor practice kind of get hot like that,
00:04 but this was I mean,
00:05 just make a three pointers in the game.
00:08 Just what you think of her?
00:09 Down for her first nine too.
00:11 I all I said to her was I think our our
00:14 three month plan on conserving her energy
00:16 in practice so that she's game ready.
00:18 Must be working.
00:19 Gotta give her mom a lot of credit.
00:22 This was alumni weekend for Missouri
00:24 women's basketball and Amy had all
00:26 her teammates in here.
00:27 They sit behind our bench.
00:28 For most of the game and I think it
00:31 gave sailor a bunch of confidence and
00:34 her teammates just rallied around her,
00:36 knowing that she hadn't been
00:37 able to practice full speed.
00:39 So yeah, she felt fresh.
00:41 She felt good and obviously when
00:42 your shots going in you feel real.
00:44 I think she made eight of her first nine.
00:47 And we needed every single one of them.
00:49 Yeah, she joked that she didn't make
00:51 another one because she was at 24 points
00:54 in her mom or 24 at Missouri and so I
00:56 wish I would have been in on that.
00:58 I'd have taken her out and put
01:00 Mary back in there, but now it's
01:02 she she earned every right every
01:03 every bit to do it on her terms.
01:05 Tonight that was a and she did an
01:07 unbelievable job again on Haley Frank.
01:10 As our whole team did,
01:11 but she was matched up with
01:12 her whole bunch one on one.
01:14 What do you think?
01:15 Just it feels like your team this
01:16 year handles adversity pretty well.
01:18 What do you think has kind
01:19 of been key to that?
01:21 I'm gonna tell you what I hope it is.
01:24 I don't know that I don't know this yet.
01:27 I hope it's what we went through last year.
01:30 And how we learn from it and how our
01:32 upperclassmen have told all these
01:34 newcomers that weren't here how that felt.
01:37 I hope that's what it is,
01:38 because if that's it,
01:40 then that's an unbelievable sign of a team
01:42 that and we've turned this team over to the team.
01:46 You know there were multiple times
01:47 tonight that we as coaches would be
01:49 talking about something during the
01:50 little pre pre timeout huddle and we
01:52 go in they'd already be talking about it.
01:54 So I want to.
01:55 I want to attribute it to that.
01:57 I think we've still got more
02:00 adversity to come, although.
02:02 I mean, if I don't know if we have
02:04 another head head, you know,
02:05 blow to the head that takes the starter out.
02:07 We're going to have to take kids
02:08 out of red shirt or something.
02:09 I don't have to do what TCU did.
02:11 I don't know where we're at, but you're right.
02:13 They handle it.
02:14 There's no flinch in him.
02:16 So I've got to give it to our leaders.
02:17 You know Mac and Sam and Sailor and
02:19 Mary am going into that to not flinch
02:22 and not let anybody else you know.
02:24 Jenna comes in and didn't have
02:26 to think about that shot.
02:28 It was in her hands.
02:28 She had no other choice and she shot.
02:31 That's what she does.
02:31 We gotta get her comfortable like that.
02:33 I thought Carly Johnson again's
02:35 minutes extended because of Keats going out.
02:38 She was going to play a bunch already,
02:40 but.
02:41 In extended minutes made winning play
02:43 after winning play and guarded and
02:45 our kids rally around her as well so.
02:49 It's rewarding as a coach.
02:50 It's hard to win on the road in this
02:51 league and we found a way to do it.
02:53 A couple times.
02:54 Yeah, last thing before Daniel,
02:56 I guess what is the extent
02:58 of what happened to Carly?
02:59 It looked like she just got hit in the face.
03:01 She got yeah, hit really hard.
03:04 I kind of looked at it on the replay
03:05 and it was really hard and again.
03:07 You know what you do as coaches as
03:09 you look and you every kids got a
03:11 toughness level and I've seen that kid.
03:14 You know, play stickball what she does
03:16 with her her tribe and.
03:20 When I went to talk to her,
03:21 I said hey after they tried to
03:22 fit her with a mask, I said hey,
03:25 you feel like going and she
03:26 she couldn't get a word out.
03:27 Her eyes just told me she couldn't go,
03:29 so I know if she was feeling good,
03:30 she would have tried it.
03:31 So I think it's will have to
03:33 get it back and evaluate.
03:34 We don't have.
03:35 We don't travel with the doctor,
03:36 but they they looked at her.
03:37 They think she'll be OK to get on the plane.
03:39 Get home will get a doctor look at her and.
03:41 I hope it's you know.
03:43 I hope it's something that we can treat quickly.
03:46 You always worry about a concussion,
03:48 but at this point I just don't know.
03:49 I haven't talked to a doctor yet.
03:51 Daniel. Yeah, just one for me coach.
03:55 This year six game without Talia.
03:56 Just I guess what if you learned
03:59 game by game as you are playing?
04:01 And I guess it's stylistically
04:02 are y'all any different?
04:04 No, we haven't changed.
04:06 We put some new offense in,
04:07 but that that's what we do anyway.
04:09 We'll continue to run it as she returns.
04:11 I think she'll just give us you know some
04:14 a shot in the arm, some fresh legs.
04:16 I think that I have learned those
04:18 things we were talking about with
04:21 with Ethan that our team is resilient.
04:24 I think you know the ball is popping
04:26 and I hope Talia is watching that
04:27 and knows where she's going to get
04:29 in and fit in 'cause if she gets
04:31 some of these open shots we've been
04:32 getting and missing I know she'll make him.
04:34 I think she's used her time real wisely.
04:37 I mean, you know daily contact
04:38 with her and talking to her and I
04:41 still write her game card and talk
04:42 about how she can impact the game
04:44 and we expect her to return to
04:46 contact on Monday on Tuesday when
04:48 we get back to practice.
04:49 But I guess how how is she handling?
04:52 You know, 'cause things went so well.
04:54 She was just writing her name
04:56 with the press release for us.
04:57 Is your first movie ready game for play?
04:59 Just how is she handling?
05:01 I mean, she's been out for quite a while now.
05:03 Yeah, very maturely.
05:04 You know she's been listening to the doctors.
05:06 She's been not, you know,
05:08 not going out and doing things.
05:09 She's been staying off of her feet.
05:12 She's been doing all of her rehab and prehab.
05:14 She's watching films.
05:15 She's in every film session.
05:17 She's engaged, so she's handling
05:18 like she's handles her business.
05:20 You know, just like she does on the court.
05:22 She's been handling her business.
05:23 We had a little live scrimmage.
05:25 You know, it's going to take some
05:26 time to get her timing back.
05:27 You know, she turned it over a couple
05:29 of times and she was really frustrated
05:30 and upset and you know I had to sit
05:32 with her and talk to her about.
05:35 That's not a that's not a freshman thing.
05:37 That's not anything that's
05:38 a being a human thing.
05:39 When you when you're out for that long,
05:42 your timing is going to be a little bit off so,
05:44 but she went seven out of 14 from
05:46 the three point line in our game
05:47 after the game the other day,
05:48 so I don't think it'll take very long,
05:50 but she'll need some game reps
05:51 as well as some practice reps,
05:53 and we got a good plan for that too.
05:56 And then quietly 9 rebounds for
05:57 sailor just kind of part of the course.
06:00 Yeah, it's tough rebounds to really,
06:02 really hard to get rebounds.
06:03 A Missouri's got tremendous
06:05 size at their guard position.
06:07 It was very, very physical.
06:09 You know it's hard for her to be
06:11 as explosive as she has been because
06:13 it hurts every time that she jumps
06:15 and lands but those nine those a
06:18 lot of those are hustle tough rebounds.
06:20 And you know overall maybe you
06:22 know under the circumstances you
06:24 know one of the more gutty
06:26 performances I've ever seen.
