ndonesian rider Afridza Munandar, 20-year-old, was killed in an accident on the Sepang International Circuit, on Saturday, 02 November 2019, during the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) race.
Supporting race to the 2019 MotoGP Grand Prix of Malaysia, the event was the 11th round of the 2019 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup series.
Afridza Munandar crashed on the opening lap at Turn 10. The rider received medical attention by the side of the track before being transferred by helicopter to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), where he was pronounced dead. The race red flagged immediately thereafter.
Afridza Munandar was ranked third in the 2019 IATC standings, with two wins, two second places and two third-place finishes. In his honor, the race number #4 was retired from the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup.
