Douglas Ross praises Buckie Thistle
Transcript
00:00 Stop this bill now. Thank you.
00:02 Thank you very much. Douglas Ross.
00:04 Thank you very much Mr Deputy Speaker.
00:07 It's an honour to speak in this debate about the oil and gas sector,
00:11 the industry and the jobs that rely on it.
00:14 And certainly in my Moray constituency there are many people employed in the sector.
00:19 They travel through to Aberdeen to go offshore and it is a regular commute for many people.
00:24 And that is the case in towns and villages throughout Moray, such as Buckie.
00:30 And since I've been able to get Buckie into the opening of this debate about oil and gas,
00:36 it hopefully allows me the opportunity, Mr Deputy Speaker, to put on record my appreciation to the club
00:42 for an outstanding match that they played against Glasgow Celtic yesterday at Parkhead in the Scottish Cup.
00:49 They sadly lost 5-0 but it was an outstanding game for the Highland League team.
00:57 Graeme Stewart and his players did not just the club, the Highland League, the community and Buckie itself proud.
01:05 They have come away with an absolute host of new fans because of what they achieved over the weeks
01:14 since that game first came into the public domain.
01:18 I think it's been great to see cup fever in Buckie and stalwarts of the club,
01:22 recognised such as Annie Jaffe and Sandra Paterson, for everything they've done with the club over many years.
01:29 And I'm sure the congratulations of everyone in the House goes to Buckie Thistle for their achievements.
01:33 I will give way.
01:35 I of course join him in congratulating Buckie Thistle but can you answer just one question?
01:39 Which side played in the homestead?
01:41 Well it was of course, they both played in the green and white hoops.
01:45 Celtic played in green and white and Buckie were in yellow.
01:48 But as I say this is an important debate for many towns and villages and communities in Moray
01:54 who have a large number of people.
