00:10 to return to WWE and that next big name is Sasha Banks aka Mercedes Monet.

00:22 Given that she was on a per event deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling, the door seems open

00:26 for a return to WWE a little over a year after her unceremonious exit from the company.

00:33 We'll touch on that a little bit later.

00:42 She didn't have the happiest end to her first run in WWE, it was disappointing to

00:46 fans to see one of the four horsewomen leave so abruptly.

00:50 But within a short time she had already gotten to live out her dream and wrestle on the big

00:55 stage in Japan.

00:57 So what exactly is Sasha Banks going to WWE as a current possibility?

01:03 According to one recent report from Fightful, allegedly there had not been an agreement

01:07 on salary part of things.

01:09 Sasha Banks supposedly wants a deal that is worth more than the new contract that Charlotte

01:14 Flair signed, reportedly making her the highest paid woman in WWE history.

01:18 To put that into perspective, from the mirror put out a list of WWE salaries in 2022, Becky

01:24 Lynch was said to be the highest paid woman on the roster at $3 million a year.

01:28 She was also joint the 6th highest paid wrestler overall on the roster with Cody Rhodes and

01:34 AJ Styles.

01:35 Our only response is to pay her the damn money.

01:39 But there is some conflicting reports about all of this.

01:41 She may not have come to terms with AEW, WWE's arch rival that put her on camera at their

01:47 massive All In show in London, but she did not perform on the show obviously.

01:52 But WWE is a different monster altogether right now under the leadership of Triple H

01:57 and under the majority ownership of TKO.

02:00 Remember how the entire build up to Survivor Series virtually every report said that it

02:04 wasn't happening with CM Punk?

02:06 WWE even made sure to throw Randy Orton's return as an official announcement ahead of

02:11 the show only to subvert expectations and have the shocking ending of CM Punk coming

02:16 out at the end of the show, truly flipping the entire wrestling world on its head.

02:21 Is that something WWE wants to do again?

02:24 Is this just a shell game to keep us out of the loop with what's going on with her?

02:28 Even if she's only wrestled 5 matches since leaving WWE, she supposedly made a lot of

02:32 money for it while fulfilling her obligations with New Japan Pro Wrestling, given that it's

02:37 still one of the most popular wrestlers in the world that is in play here.

02:41 Regardless whether she's a woman or a man, her time in WWE could be a defining part of

02:46 her legacy now under the very different circumstances.

02:50 Still it is unclear whether or not Mercedes Monae will go back to banking on WWE.

02:56 Big Papa Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter scooped this at the end of December,

03:01 saying on Wrestling Observer Radio that "She was absolutely talking with WWE from what

03:05 I was told.

03:06 They were far apart on money.

03:08 There was one person in WWE who said until she shows up and signs a contract, just remember

03:13 what happened with Punk.

03:15 I was told that this afternoon, just remember what happened with Punk.

03:19 I was told that by multiple people.

03:21 They were far apart on money."

03:23 And given that things are going great for WWE overall right now, it seems like a good

03:29 time for her to come home as many fans would describe it.

03:32 So how would WE do that on screen?

03:35 Let's get into that part.

03:37 For us, the perfect place to start is no hotter storyline with the women in WWE on Raw or

03:42 Smackdown than the internal struggle within damage control involving Bayley, Asuka, Kairi

03:48 Zayn, Io Sky and Dakota Kai.

03:51 Although it took a while for them to get momentum after that big return at Summerslam more than

03:55 a year ago, the additions of Asuka and the returning Kairi Zayn to the faction have been

04:01 huge.

04:02 But it's also come at a cost because Bayley, once the leader and true instigator of this

04:07 disruptive faction, seems to have been booted out of the de facto leader of the group role

04:12 and replaced by Dakota Kai.

04:14 Interesting considering that she's still recovering from an ACL injury.

04:18 Dakota has become a bit more of a mastermind while Bayley seems to be getting pushed out.

04:23 She's overdue for a change in her character after spending 4 years as a bad girl doing

04:28 bad things.

04:29 This is exactly where Sasha Banks is going to come in and considering the history between

04:34 Sasha and Bayley is so intertwined, it makes a lot of sense to make history repeat itself

04:40 and prove that destiny can fold over once more.

04:44 Back in 2015 at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn, they had a match that is still considered one of

04:49 the best women's matches in WWE history.

04:52 That has cemented their names together in history and allows them a great point to jump

04:57 back on and do something interesting.

05:00 Anyway, you go through the entirety of January with the constant tease of Bayley getting

05:04 booted out of damage control without it actually happening.

05:09 And since Kairi Zayn and Asuka are the only two damage control members apart from Bayley

05:13 who can participate in the women's Royal Rumble and have a story to play out there,

05:18 it can be an easy moment where Asuka and Kairi try to eliminate Bayley when 3, 2, 1, Sasha

05:28 Banks makes her shocking return as the last entrant in the match.

05:34 This wasn't supposed to happen.

05:36 Damage control is quickly turning on Bayley.

05:39 We don't need you.

05:40 We don't want you anymore.

05:41 And Bayley's got a backup plan to, for lack of a better phrase, bank on.

05:46 You're probably going to get an edge 2020 Royal Rumble kind of pop, or at least something

05:51 close to that, which is good enough.

05:53 Imagine the final four of Bayley, Sasha Banks, Asuka, and Kairi Zayn.

05:57 That would be insane.

06:00 It would create the perfect boiling point moment for damage control to throw in Dakota

06:05 Kai at ringside and the drama would be electric.

06:08 Bayley would be expected to eliminate Sasha Banks first with the three of them ganging

06:12 up on her, but instead Bayley uses that opportunity to eliminate both Asuka and Kairi.

06:18 Oh, double treachery is about.

06:20 It's really hard to choose who to pick as the winner of the women's Royal Rumble becomes

06:25 something of making two arguments.

06:27 One argument to be made is that Sasha Banks is the one with the explosive momentum fresh

06:32 from this return, minutes fresh from this return, and you would want to have them win

06:36 that Royal Rumble going into WrestleMania besides ever won the Rumble before.

06:41 Also character wise, this would slingshot her out of a submissive role that she's

06:47 been playing in the damage control faction to once again being a needle moving badass.

06:53 Apart from headlining WrestleMania and winning the Royal Rumble, it is the only accolade

06:58 she has yet to achieve in the WWE.

07:01 And to top it off, the damage control storyline is almost a year and a half in the making

07:05 at this point.

07:06 She's probably more deserving of the winning role given how important she's been to WWE

07:11 over the last four years, enduring an injury, and truly being one of the best performers

07:16 during the pandemic era.

07:18 Either way, if you have Sasha Banks win the Royal Rumble, and then damage control storyline

07:22 comes to an end right after Royal Rumble, leading to Bayley vs. Io Sky in a title match

07:27 at Elimination Chamber, that would not be a bad scenario to play out here.

07:31 In this case, Bayley wins the Women's Championship to set up a blockbuster WrestleMania clash

07:38 against her former tag team partner, rival, now rival once again, and given how many times

07:44 they've faced each other, they've never actually had that WrestleMania singles match

07:49 with each other.

07:50 Let's just settle on Bayley winning the Rumble, it's a more logical option, and

07:54 then you can set up Sasha Banks vs. Io Sky at Elimination Chamber where Sasha wins the

07:59 Women's Championship.

08:00 Either way, Banks vs. Bayley at WrestleMania is a great alternative to Bayley vs. Io.

08:07 We are sorry to the Io Sky fans out there, this is no shot at you.

08:11 The only real downside of this is that the damage control storyline ends up being second

08:16 fiddle to Sasha and Bayley, but you gotta give the fans what they want, and if you're

08:22 telling me Sasha Banks fans are gonna be okay with her not being in the main event, well

08:29 you're gonna deal with some real flack with that one, pal.

08:32 But at the end of the day, WWE is very much a for-profit business, they will do what is

08:36 best for business at the biggest possible matches they can put together at the biggest

08:40 possible show, that is WrestleMania.

08:43 Although Io Sky deserves her flowers for being so awesome, being a real, upgraded, important

08:50 superstar, hard to imagine WWE right now in this circumstance we're laying out, acknowledging

08:57 the true genius of the Sky over a huge women's match at WrestleMania that has some real casual

09:04 fan appeal.

09:05 If you want to make Banks vs. Bayley that much bigger, a stipulation could be added

09:10 to it.

09:11 How can you go wrong with a last women's standing match on such a big stage?

09:15 Make it stand out on the card.

09:16 It's up to you to decide if you feel Sasha Banks or Bayley should win this match, but

09:20 it would probably benefit Bayley a lot more to get that win, and Sasha simply just being

09:24 back on WWE television would be interesting enough as it is.

09:28 Sasha has always had a little bit more star power, just maybe a little bit more charisma,

09:34 that wouldn't hurt her as much to lose at WrestleMania 40 by the way, and if she's

09:39 only won out of the 7 matches at the grandest stage of them all, come on, it's okay, everyone's

09:44 just happy you're back to begin with.

09:46 For her, there's going to be a lot to do in WWE in this potential situation, and a

09:50 lot of new women to face along the way.

09:52 The possibilities are quite endless.
