00:00 Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Yorkshire Evening Post here from Ellen Road, a very, very windy
00:06 Ellen Road and an Ellen Road that has seen another dramatic conclusion here as Leeds
00:11 United recorded a 2-1 victory against Preston North End. Basically thanks to a 94th minute
00:16 Joel Peru penalty and it was drama even with that one, it looked like Patrick Bamford was
00:20 going to take it. Peru then giving the ball and stepped up with a nice cool finish but
00:24 the drama still continued afterwards. Just had Ryan Lowe, Preston boss Ryan Lowe's
00:29 post-match press conference and basically saying that his lads are absolutely gutted
00:34 that there was thought there was a foul beforehand on the edge of the box before the handball
00:38 was given for the penalty and that 1-1 would have been a fair result here etc. was his
00:43 opinion. Lots of praise for Leeds, it's got to be said as well from him and aside who
00:47 he said will get promoted was the first things he said and so big praise from him there and
00:53 we'd all hope obviously that will be the case but what you would say is that if they are
00:56 going to go up top two you felt like three points there were pretty essential really
01:01 to get the gap back down to four points. Obviously that's before Ipswich play Leicester on Monday
01:05 night but this obviously coming on the back of Southampton winning yet again on Saturday
01:10 and Leeds have just got to keep going. It's been a perfect start to the new year, obviously
01:13 they've won every game they've played so far and really I can see where Ryan Lowe's
01:18 coming from in terms of Preston digging in but Leeds have so many chances and they should
01:22 have probably already been out of sight in terms of taking those chances. Awful, awful
01:26 start just two minutes on the clock when they were 1-0 down just a failure to deal with
01:30 the free kick put into the box. Liam Miller sending one across the goal, I'm not sure
01:35 if that was going in but Will Keane was there to pounce and put Preston 1-0 up so a dream
01:38 start for them. Leeds came straight back I think it was five minutes later Dan James
01:42 with the equalising goal, brilliant play from Junior Firpo who's getting a few assists
01:46 this heat, got down the left played in by Somerville, superb cross to the back stick
01:49 and there was James to arrive and head home. 1-1 at the break, there were chances for both
01:54 sides, you've got to give credit to Preston, they came and they had a go, they didn't
01:56 sit in and park the bus or anything like that, they definitely caused a threat. But after
02:00 the break Leeds came out very, very strong, they had loads of chances, I think four, five,
02:04 six chances in the space of about ten minutes and the closest was Georges Nyeroute who came
02:09 off the post after a brilliant play by Somerville. Preston dug in and as I said they had a couple
02:14 of chances themselves, looked destined to end 1-1 and then obviously the penalty, Ellen
02:19 Rhoad absolutely erupted in the 93rd minute when that was given and in the end Perrault
02:22 stepped up to convert it, a high school finish and steal a 2-1 victory here at Ellen Rhoad.
02:27 As I say that gets the gap back down to four points, we'll see what happens on Monday evening,
02:31 it's Norwich City next on Wednesday here, that won't be easy, they have turned a bit
02:35 of a corner of late but I mean obviously the teams above Leeds are just showing no signs
02:39 of slipping up but you'd hope that will start to eventually and quite simply Leeds just
02:43 have to keep going. Lesson here again, probably a few of them, defending the set-piece wasn't
02:48 great for the first goal, they definitely need to take more of the chances because obviously
02:51 this could have easily ended 1-1 as Ryan Lowe said but in the end it hasn't, it's finished
02:54 Leeds United 2, Preston North end 1 and a bit of revenge for the Boxing Day defeat.
