00:00 Questions for Victor?
00:04 What were your overall thoughts on how you did out there today?
00:08 I think I did a good job getting to my attacks and converting on my finishes
00:12 and I was able to get those takedowns and eventually just keep working the pace and get the tech full.
00:16 How have you kind of dealt with the competition there at 149?
00:20 You know, going from starter to cheering time?
00:24 Yeah, it's a competition in the room.
00:28 I just need to be ready when my opportunity comes to make the most of it.
00:32 So today was an opportunity to wrestle in front of the fans and cover Hawkeye.
00:36 I felt like I just needed to go out there and make the most of that opportunity.
00:40 When did the switch kind of flip?
00:44 Like, it's my time. I'm starting for sure. Flip the switch.
00:48 Or conversely, is it always on?
00:52 I'm always ready to go. I was ready to make weight today, but I got the text this morning saying I was a go.
00:56 So that's kind of when I was like, okay, it's time to go. Get ready for tonight.
01:00 How's your transition to, we haven't talked about that,
01:04 your transition to Iowa City been?
01:08 Oh, it's been great. I love Iowa City. It's been great to be around the guys on the team,
01:12 be around the coaches, be around the fans. It's been a great transition.
01:16 I'm enjoying it so far.
01:20 Tom said that you haven't shied away from kind of reminding him, hey, I'm still
01:24 the guy that's fighting for a spot here. What do you think
01:28 your message was tonight with your performance?
01:32 Yeah, I obviously let him know that I still plan on being the national champ this year, so I want to get those
01:36 opportunities. I had to go out there and put some points on the board. I feel like I showed him that
01:40 I can go out there and score points for the team, get the tag fall, get the bonus points,
01:44 and score a lot of points. That's interesting, Victor. How do you kind of balance that?
01:48 You're obviously wrestling for yourself and your teammates, but in a way,
01:52 at least I picked up on, you're sort of wrestling for your coaches,
01:56 like showing them what you can do. Is that like a balancing act you have to pull off?
02:00 Not necessarily. I guess I have to show my coaches what I can do,
02:04 but in the end, I want to go out there and show my abilities and prove that
02:08 I'm one of the best guys in the country and I'm going to be the national champ in
02:12 Kansas City in the March. I just need to go out there and prove it and show the coaches and show the fans
02:16 and show everyone.
