00:19 After Health Secretary Ted Herbosa recommended
00:25 that the 5% increase in PhilHealth contributions be reduced,
00:30 the board meeting was held by the Insurance Corporation and the Calihim.
00:34 PhilHealth Vice President for Corporate Affairs Ray Balenya said
00:38 that the delay in the meeting lasted almost a whole day.
00:42 "There was a long decision," said PhilHealth.
00:45 "They are still waiting for a full agreement."
00:48 "I would like to thank our board secretariat
00:50 because you know, the board meeting was long. I understand.
00:55 They were busy. We are still waiting for agreements."
01:00 PhilHealth was following Herbosa's recommendation
01:04 and they are now waiting for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive on them,
01:09 especially since the President said that he will study the recommendation
01:14 that PhilHealth should not increase its contribution.
01:17 "We are fully in line with the view and observation of our Secretary of Health
01:23 regarding this matter.
01:25 This is being studied by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
01:30 and we will follow their directive regarding this issue."
01:37 While the decision is not yet finalized,
01:40 PhilHealth made big changes to the benefits received by its members and dependents.
01:46 PhilHealth implemented a benefit enhancement last year
01:50 where it increased the number of sessions that members with dialysis can attend.
01:57 From more than 70 sessions, it is now 156 sessions.
02:01 It also has a mental health package
02:03 and rationalization packages for stroke, high-risk pneumonia, and colorectal cancer.
02:11 The consulta package was also improved
02:13 where even if the patient is out, they will not be charged as long as the consulta is accredited.
02:18 More than 2,500 health facilities are now accredited with the consulta package
02:23 and this is the target for private hospitals this year
02:27 so that the Filipinos can get a check-up and medical treatment in health care facilities.
02:32 "Our target is for all Filipinos to be able to avail this.
02:37 We should increase the number of qualified providers to be able to get accredited."
02:46 The insurance corporation also assured that they will continue to increase the packages
02:51 that are being given to their members because they are aware of the effects of inflation.
