00:00 It's wicked, you can be like...
00:02 Hey, I'm Alfie Tumperman and today I'm guitar shopping at Guitar Guitar in Camden with Guitar.com
00:21 This is basically my first guitar, kind of like the surf green Strat. It's just a classic really, plenty of people always go for it because it just looks nice, it sounds nice, put a whammy on it and you're good to go.
00:38 I mean this is just the craziest wall of Strats I've ever seen. I play Strat all the time. In terms of live stuff, I basically just use this one Strat that I bought about four or five years ago. I used it on all my records and then I just ended up using it so much live that I just use it every gig basically, so it's got kind of like this personality to it that's quite special to me.
00:58 I mean look at that, looks like it's gone through a house fire and it's still looking absolutely incredible.
01:04 Oh, that's what we're talking about man. It just makes sense to me, like Strats.
01:15 Yeah, this feels so good.
01:27 Something about Strat and whammy.
01:31 I've never learned how to finger pick so I get bullied for it but I just use these two fingers so it looks really stupid and like if I'm ever doing a video at home I always make sure that you can't see what I'm doing because it just looks so stupid.
01:56 Look.
02:09 Here we go again. I really want a 335 as well. When you're looking for kind of those rhythmic undertones, I feel like it fills it out quite nicely and some of the new record I've been doing is quite jazz-based and there's a lot of quite interesting chords in there.
02:27 I mean there's something really nice about the warmth that a 335 or even a Les Paul would give you. I think these guys look so good.
02:34 Ice-T, Sunburst, once again Jimmy Page, he used to play that kind of coloured Les Paul. Just looks so nice. Just as a kid you were like, always wanted to get one but I still haven't. I don't know why I haven't but maybe today is the day.
02:51 I might have a go with that. Wow, that is incredible.
02:55 Whoever played this last must be Nick Drake.
03:24 I really like this as well. It's like a Jazzmaster meets Mustang. Amazing.
03:28 It's got the batteries up and running.
03:31 Is it an active then?
03:33 Yeah it has to be. Basically it's like a proper fuzz pedal.
03:36 Felt it.
03:38 Oh, wow.
03:43 Wow.
03:44 Oh man, if my mate was here he would have put this into some crazy mad drop Bb or something. But I don't want to do anything to it. I don't want to hurt it.
04:11 I don't want to hurt it.
04:12 Oh it's got...
04:38 You know when you're just learning and you're just getting used to playing the guitar. And then listening to B.B. King was like, oh forget what you know, it's just all feel. You just have to really feel it. And the way he did it, it just taught me so much about how it comes naturally. You have to just be naturally into it.
04:56 Oh wow, that's really fucking nice.
04:59 It's worth trying. They're basically like Jazzmaster and P90 style pickups.
05:03 Damn, that's so cool.
05:07 Yeah, let's have a feel. It's going to be interesting to see what this is like in comparison. Like polar opposites.
05:11 It's actually really, really nice. I'm actually surprised at how nice this is.
05:34 Yeah, because I was expecting it to sound completely different to that. But it's still got a bit of that warmth in it.
05:41 You know?
06:08 Oh, I'm going to buy this. I've decided. Well, because I've always wanted this Paul. And I've never found the perfect one. But these guys are inverted. So it means that when I'm always playing up here in the neck, I'll never hit it. Because it's the wrong way. So it's perfect. So it's coming home with Alf.
