00:00 I'm here today with the journal down at the Tom Hutton Play Park.
00:06 They've just completed phase two of their four phase installment of new equipment down at the park.
00:14 So we're going to go and take a look.
00:16 So looking around in phase one was the replacement of the swing.
00:22 It's now an accessible swing, all ages and abilities can use this one now.
00:30 Completed in phase one of the regeneration programme for the play park.
00:36 Also in phase one was this ability whorl.
00:42 So again accessibility is at the forefront of this one.
00:47 So it allows those who are wheelchair users to be able to play on the traditional merry-go-round.
00:57 Like this one here, which is obviously an older version.
01:03 This one allows everyone to come and play on the ability whorl.
01:09 Which if you watch by demonstration, swings around and after a while and some speed better than mine.
01:22 Will of course make you very dizzy as well.
01:26 Now I'm here because Radstock Town Council have just completed phase two.
01:31 They posted an announcement saying that the park is now reopen after their refurbishment works.
01:38 One of the main attractions is definitely going to be this zip wire I think.
01:46 I'm not going to demonstrate for you.
01:49 But what you do is you pull this one all the way to the end with the platform here.
02:01 I was always too scared to play on this as a child.
02:03 So well done if you're more brave than I am.
02:07 I'm going to have a go on this.
02:09 So that tire will stop you at the other end.
02:13 Get on there, put your feet on the little raised bit there.
02:17 And off you go.
02:20 Quite a lot of fun that one.
02:22 I was just always too scared to do it myself.
02:24 They've also replaced the bouncy flooring.
02:29 I don't know the official name.
02:31 Underneath these new play park attractions as well.
02:39 They've also implemented this one.
02:43 This is a new one as well.
02:45 Completed in phase two.
02:50 I've never had anything like this when I was a kid.
02:56 So yeah, lots of fun on this one.
02:59 Lots of activities.
03:01 Got a fireman's pole and all.
03:05 Great stuff.
03:07 They've also got this multi-pondo.
03:10 Not sure what a multi-pondo is.
03:12 You'll have to come down and test it out and let us know at the journal what this one's for.
03:17 I guess it's like a swing really, isn't it?
03:22 Swing back and forth on that like a floating skateboard almost.
03:29 It has little billboards as well.
03:32 Little information cards or posters.
03:37 Next to each of the play park equipment.
03:43 It tells you what age group that these new instalments are for as well.
03:48 That's always handy to know.
03:50 Just to make sure that you are safe when you're visiting the park.
03:54 There are signs up as well to say that children should be accompanied by an adult when they use the play equipment.
04:15 This one's very unique as well because it obviously links to the history of Radstock with the steam railway.
04:25 So it's a really nice little touch that they've added with this train play equipment as well.
04:34 You can sit in the train, pretend you're chugging along.
04:38 And of course you can also go through that little tunnel there.
04:44 Loads of fun.
04:46 They've called it the Bruges Unit I believe.
04:51 Got a little platform sort of waiting area.
04:56 Look-alike ticket office. There we go.
04:59 That is going on here as well.
05:01 You can sit in here.
05:02 Maybe you can have lunch on that little table.
05:04 Hours of fun to be had in the new instalment as you can see here at the Tom Hutton Play Park.
05:12 And of course they have installed the accessible changing unit as well with toilet changing area and a hoist inside.
05:23 You can find pictures of that on our website on the journal.
05:28 We'll include pictures of that in our article.
05:32 So do give that a read.
05:34 It's great to see that accessibility was at the forefront of this whole project.
05:40 And here I thought I'd show you some of the older equipment that is due to be revamped and reinstalled.
05:52 They'll be making improvements to this as time goes on.
05:55 There's four phases to this project.
05:57 Currently halfway through so there's a little bit more work to be done.
06:02 But as you can see the stuff does need replacing.
06:07 And the Town Council are working very hard on getting that all done.
06:12 So there's new play equipment for all ages in the play park.
06:17 And of course the big one up there is going to be replaced as well.
06:23 So do keep an eye out on the journal, website and in the paper of course for more information on when the next phases will be happening.
06:34 And again we'll keep you up to date with all that's going on down here at the play park.
