00:00 With Roxy it feels like there's myself and there's her and then she's pulling
00:04 things out of me too that are really fun to tap into.
00:08 [Music]
00:16 What has your Vanderpump family said about the casting?
00:19 Oh my gosh they're so excited and all of them have talked about how they're gonna
00:22 come and see and what's great is our show is gonna be airing while I'm
00:28 performing so they're all gonna be coming out for Watch Rapids Live and so
00:32 I'm like you know it works out perfectly you'll be in town.
00:36 Do you want to know the days that they're coming to the show?
00:39 Um yeah I think that that was something I learned with dancing is that I thought
00:45 it would make me really nervous to know like who was gonna be there but then
00:48 ultimately when it was getting time to perform when I saw like their names on
00:52 the chairs it made me it felt good yeah.
00:56 How do you think dancing prepared you for Broadway?
00:59 Oh my gosh.
01:00 Dancing with the Stars I should say.
01:01 Yeah yeah when I say dancing yeah.
01:02 I think that the rehearsal schedule you know just the you know four or five hour
01:09 rehearsals that actually end up going by so fast that really prepared me also
01:15 just how quickly you we had to pick things up and learn and that's actually
01:20 something that now I'm having to not freak out because I think my brain is in
01:25 this mode of you have five days to learn this whereas I do have more time yeah so
01:31 in my mind you know rehearsal I think it was like day two and I was over here
01:35 like oh my gosh I'm so sorry you guys and they're like you've been here for
01:38 like an hour like oh that's right that's right so it's almost like you know those
01:44 difficulties put me in a really I think a really good position to be able to
01:49 tackle the rehearsal schedule here.
01:52 Ladies and gentlemen you are about to see a story of murder, greed, corruption,
01:57 violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery.
02:04 All the things we hold near and dear to our hearts.
02:08 You said Broadway was a dream which I didn't realize but I think about you
02:12 know the book TV show Dancing with the Stars of course Vanderpump Rules now
02:16 this like what else is on that dream list for you?
02:19 I gotta go back to like the childhood diary and try to figure that out because
02:23 this this right here was number one day one every single thing that I was doing
02:31 moving to LA from New York was actually part of the plan to get back here to be
02:37 up to maybe one day be able to do this like it was all some crazy manifestation
02:44 stuff that happened in way weirder ways than I ever would have thought but
02:48 ultimately I mean it was all for this and so it's just crazy and I'm gonna
02:55 have to start coming up with new dreams.
03:00 [Music]
03:20 Can you just take me back to the moment when you got the call and it was like all right
03:24 oh my god yeah were you what happened the thought process all of it?
03:28 My manager called I was in the car with one of my best friends Logan and we were
03:34 actually like he he said something like you know there's that thing that you
03:40 always wanted to do you know and then when he said it I mean we started we
03:44 were crying we were screaming it was yeah it was huge.
03:48 What did your family say? What did your friends say?
03:50 I mean everyone was just floored you know and my mom especially because I mean
03:57 she's obviously been there since day one you know when I started doing theater as
04:00 a kid and wanted to always be doing that and so and I'm so glad too that she got
04:07 to see me perform on dancing and to just know that this was something that I was
04:13 gonna be able to do it's just it's crazy.
04:15 I love this moment that you are in. Can you just think about the past year of your life?
04:22 Like how would you describe that to where you are now?
04:25 I don't know how to like the roller coaster the you know it's like in it
04:31 there's no way to even like succinctly put all of that together you know and it
04:36 hasn't even like you think you know also 2022 like losing my grandma and losing
04:41 my dog you know what I mean like just from like that rock bottom of losing
04:45 them to now and it's just like life is life.
04:52 Life is lifing right now.
04:54 I feel like everybody always says everything happens for a reason but when you're in it you're like well what is the
04:59 what is the reason for all of this?
05:01 Yeah totally.
05:02 Look at where look at everything that you have done and everyone that you've inspired along the way.
05:07 Oh that well that's the thing is it's like I'm not alone I'm not you know special you know what I mean like
05:14 You are special.
05:16 You are special.
05:18 But I just feel like you know it there's this feeling sometimes that it feels like you know we are all in this together and so for you to say that like I hope that that I'm able to inspire because you inspire me all the time so you know it's it's a back and forth you know what I mean?
05:36 How does Roxy Hart inspire you like were you a fan of Chicago going into this?
05:40 Oh yeah for sure.
05:42 As in high school we did sell the lottang which I'm like it's not appropriate I don't know.
05:47 [Singing]
06:01 You know from then to now you know and obviously everyone knows the movie which is like so incredibly done and the B.B. Newarth and Anne Rankin version you know like incredible incredible and
06:13 Roxy's story is one that like I totally identify with and I think that her and I just as people sometimes when we're working on the script or working on the lines we're like that's not really like me you know and so I love that about her and she is she is cool.
06:31 She's badass.
06:33 I would say the same thing about you.
06:35 Oh thanks.
06:36 How have rehearsals been like is there a move or a line that helps you get into Roxy?
06:41 Mmm I think for me getting into Roxy is you know we talk in rehearsals about how she's if you think about like the emotional Olympics she's gold medal in everything and that right there makes me think because she literally you know she'll butter you up but then the second she thinks that you might not be giving her what she needs.
07:10 She's coming for you.
07:11 Yeah.
07:12 Have you I don't want to I don't know what the right term is I don't want to say like gotten your power back like with her but if you think have you found more confidence through Roxy?
07:23 Mmm yeah in a way I think so I think that I also through like just dancing and performing again which is always been my is my first love my first dream so it feels one of my best friends Meredith she said something during like the finale of dancing that she was so excited for other people to see who she's known this whole time and so I feel like I've re-gotten to know myself.
07:52 And with Roxy it feels like there's myself and there's her and then she's pulling things out of me too that are really fun to tap into.
08:02 Oh my gosh come see me in Chicago because it's the longest running show on Broadway for a reason.
08:08 Every person who plays Roxy brings something totally new and different which I plan on doing and everything about it is incredible.
08:16 Not just me the whole cast.
