Around the country people are celebrating the unlikely event of an Australian becoming a queen. Those from her home suburb in Tasmania are proud of 'their Mary' and are keen to claim her as their own.

00:16 Here in Taroona, there's a particular pride that a local girl who went to the local public school grew up to become a European queen.
