00:00 Welcome to MizMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the television characters
00:12 we think deserved better. Watch out for spoilers ahead.
00:24 Number 10, Raj Kuthripalli, The Big Bang Theory. If there's one thing The Big Bang Theory
00:30 had going for it, it was just how great its lead characters were. We all expected great
00:37 things out of this group of boys, and for the most part, we saw that come true, except
00:42 in the case of Raj.
00:54 At the end of The Big Bang Theory, pretty much everyone was both romantically and professionally
00:59 fulfilled, except for Raj. Before the series' end, he broke up with a woman who was seemingly
01:06 perfect for him. He then watched as two of his friends won Nobel Prizes, while his career
01:20 remained stuck where it was. Sure, it's fun to see him flirt with Sarah Michelle Gellar,
01:26 but it doesn't fix things.
01:35 Number 9, Lane Kim, Gilmore Girls. When it comes to Gilmore Girls' side characters,
01:41 Lane Kim was one of our favourites. Apparently, however, the writers didn't like her quite
01:57 as much as the rest of us. Otherwise, they might have thought a little harder about her
02:03 ending. Lane had dreams of being a rock star when she was a teenager, and actively bucked
02:09 her mother's attempts to make her settle down. And yet, she ends up married to a guy
02:22 named Zack and raising twins. Yes, this might be more realistic than Lane's dreams of
02:28 the big stage, but we wish she was given the chance to rock on.
02:43 Number 8, Jin-Soo and Sun-Hwa Kwon, Lost. When you think about where Jin and Sun started
02:50 at the beginning of Lost, it's pretty amazing that they became one of the audience's favourite
02:56 couples on the show. Jin's controlling manner made it hard to root for this couple at first,
03:12 but as we learned about the characters' backstories and as their relationship evolved, they became
03:18 one of the best romances we'd ever seen. As Lost went on and got weirder, the two lost
03:34 each other and traversed across time, literally, to find each other again. But when they do
03:41 find each other again, almost immediately, they end up dying. Their relationship's end
03:47 is tragically romantic, but we wanted more.
03:58 Number 7, Bonnie Bennett, The Vampire Diaries. Pretty much every character on The Vampire
04:04 Diaries has been through a great deal of trauma, but almost no one went through more than Bonnie
04:10 Bennett. Throughout the series, Bonnie repeatedly sacrifices her own happiness and puts others
04:25 before herself, and then she meets Enzo. Audiences were so excited to finally see Bonnie get
04:33 a taste of romance, but then it was all ripped away, and by Stefan no less. To see Stefan
04:50 kill Enzo, leaving Bonnie alone with no happy ending, was devastating. Honestly, we're
04:57 still having trouble forgiving Stefan.
05:07 Number 6, Justin Foley, 13 Reasons Why. At the beginning of 13 Reasons Why, Justin Foley
05:14 was far from the fan favourite. But as the series progressed, Justin's story became
05:32 far more complex, and his character evolved greatly. So it was devastating for fans when
05:38 season 4 began teasing fairly early on that Justin would die. He contracted HIV, and ended
05:55 up passing away as a result. What's worse, at his funeral, each eulogy uses his diagnosis
06:02 as a warning for the other students in attendance. It's not a very sensitive way to treat the
06:08 disease, and uses Justin's death as nothing more than a plot device.
06:24 Number 5, Fiona Gallagher, Shameless. For most of the run of Shameless, Fiona Gallagher
06:30 is the beating heart of the family. She serves as a surrogate mother for her siblings, and
06:35 is really the reason everyone is alive. So it was quite surprising when Fiona decided
06:50 to leave the family at the end of season 9. We understand why Fiona might have wanted
06:57 to follow her dreams for once, but to leave without so much as a real thank you from her
07:02 family felt forced. And the fact that she didn't return for huge family milestones,
07:17 such as Mickey and Ian's wedding, feels improbable at best. That's not the Fiona we know.
07:31 Number 4, Logan Eccles, Veronica Mars. When fans finally got a fourth season of Veronica
07:51 Mars in 2019, they were ecstatic. Everyone was excited to see our favourite detective
07:58 back and in action, and we were also pumped to see how Logan and Veronica's relationship
08:04 would progress. Logan was always the show's quintessential bad boy, but he got an amazing
08:10 redemption arc, especially throughout the last season. Then his arc was used to heighten
08:24 the tragedy of his untimely death. After Logan and Veronica got married, Logan was blown
08:31 up by a bomb. It was shocking, and ultimately incredibly unfair to both Logan and Veronica.
08:49 Number 3, Daenerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones. Listen, we always knew there was a chance
09:05 Daenerys Targaryen might break bad. Madness runs in the bloodline, after all, and we might
09:12 not have minded this turn if it was done well. But if there's one thing most fans agree
09:18 upon is that the final season of Game of Thrones was everything but done well. The downward
09:34 spiral for Dany's character development was sped through so quickly that the arc seemed
09:39 like it came out of nowhere. To sit and watch a character who had been through so much and
09:45 developed over the course of seven seasons all of a sudden go bad? It was torturous.
10:03 Number 2, Lexi Grey, Grey's Anatomy. There are a lot of characters in Grey's Anatomy,
10:10 but one of our favourites out of the crop who were introduced after the series beginning
10:15 was Lexi Grey. And one of our favourite couples that the show ever produced was Lexi and Mark.
10:31 It seemed like Lexi would finally be the girl to halt Mark's playboy ways, and his love
10:37 for her was some of the strongest the show had ever seen. The iconic plane crash episode
10:54 of Grey's Anatomy is memorable for a lot of reasons, one of which is Lexi's horrible
11:01 death. Crushed under the plane, she knows she is going to die, and her last moments
11:07 with Mark are heartbreaking. She and Mark both deserved more.
11:21 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honourable mentions.
11:26 Lexa the 100, another example of the "kill your gaze" trope.
11:40 Regina Mills, Once Upon a Time. She got romanced with Robin, but it was ripped away.
11:57 Ruth Wilder, Glow. Ruth's storyline was interrupted by an untimely cancellation.
12:14 Cordelia Chase, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Cordelia the character and Charisma Carpenter
12:20 the actress deserved more.
12:30 Lillanelle Killing Eve. This is one psycho we will always miss.
12:54 You have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them. If you're on your
12:58 phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
13:03 Number 1, Poussey Washington, Orange is the New Black.
13:18 Over the course of Orange is the New Black, Poussey Washington became one of the most
13:23 beloved television characters ever. She was a sweetheart and her smile could light up
13:29 a room.
13:38 Of course, the writers knew her death would be the one that would affect audiences the
13:43 most. But that doesn't mean they should have done it. Poussey was killed by a police
13:49 officer because she tried to help crazy eyes. The murder was one of the most horrifying
13:55 things we'd ever seen in the show. And for this show, that's saying something. We will
14:01 always wonder what Poussey could have achieved and we will always miss her.
14:17 If we missed any of your favorite TV characters who didn't get the ending they deserved,
