Buckie Thistle manager Graeme Stewart talks about his red card at Huntly and the Scottish Cup tie at Celtic

00:00 Yeah, by far the most important thing, especially with a couple of teams beside us dropping
00:04 points today. We weren't at our best by any stretch, I thought we were actually quite
00:09 poor first half, but we kept going, showed the spirit. The most important thing was the
00:13 three points. Disappointed with the way we played and defended, but team spirit and a
00:17 bit of quality in the final third and we got the win.
00:19 You've always shown that character, the boys always come in on their own when they need
00:22 a goal in the late stages and they've done it yet again.
00:24 Yeah, I mean the guys are brilliant. I've had a go at them there, but I love them to
00:27 bits and they're a great group, fantastic group to manage. Never give up, never give
00:32 in like you say, they've got a lot of quality but also they can fight. So I'm proud of them
00:37 today without being happy with the performance.
00:39 You made no mistake, Huntley really gave you a hard game there and they could have had
00:43 two or three more in that first half.
00:44 I thought they were quality. I thought the Sykers caused us all kinds of problems, their
00:48 runners off the wing. I was very impressed with them and yeah, they probably deserved
00:51 a goal maybe, if we're being honest. So, very impressed with them and hopefully if they
00:56 keep playing like that they'll take points off other teams.
00:58 It's really hard obviously to keep the focus on these games and everything when there's
01:01 a bit of a circus going on around you with the Celtic game now. Has that been in any
01:04 way a distraction to the boys?
01:06 Well, it might have been today, I don't know. It wasn't to me but it might have been to
01:10 some of the players and do you know what, you maybe can't blame them because it is something
01:14 unique and they're not used to it. So I'm not going to have a go at them for that. We
01:17 got through the game, we got the win. Maybe if we never got the win I would have a go
01:19 at them. But the most important thing was winning and now we can concentrate on the
01:23 circus as you call it, which I agree with it is a circus.
01:26 What happened with your red card then? There were obviously things that were getting a
01:29 bit heated at that point in the pitch.
01:30 I tried to calm it down. A few things were said to some of our players which I won't
01:33 repeat, which was out of order, one of their players or two of their players said a few
01:38 things. I mean if I repeat it it would be quite shocking. I heard it, I went on to try
01:43 and calm it down. I thought I was doing the right thing. In hindsight I wish I never because
01:46 if you go on the pitch, you get sent off. So, you know, sent off, we'll have to deal
01:51 with it. We'll see what happens.
01:53 You don't know yet what the circumstances could be regarding Celtic back next week?
01:57 I mean, listen, I'm suspended, I'm suspended. We're not winning the Scottish Cup. It would
02:01 be obviously ideal if I could be in the dugout but if I'm not, I'm not. It doesn't put
02:04 me up or down. The most important thing is the Hymel League.
02:06 There's a fair buzz about the place now really. The excitement and the focus can now turn
02:10 to this game and it's an absolutely huge occasion. Although you've said it's the least important
02:14 game of the season, this was far more important out here today. But you can now look forward
02:18 to a really big day next week.
02:20 Yeah, we can prepare for it now because we've not looked at it. I'll be honest, I've not
02:24 even thought about it. Everyone keeps saying you watch Celtic. No, we've got nae time.
02:27 I've got a full-time job, I've got a wife and two kids and a dog and a bucky. Games
02:31 for a bucky that would be more important just now. So now we can finally concentrate on
02:35 the Celtic game. We've got a week to prepare and we're looking forward to it.
