00:02 >> Just gonna talk about the season, obviously the struggles, but
00:05 defensively you guys were able to kind of keep the team in games.
00:09 It's kind of been the theme the last few years, but I mean,
00:12 how tough is it for you guys to not turn on the other side of the locker room?
00:17 >> I mean, it ain't tough for me personally, just because we brothers,
00:19 we in it together.
00:20 Obviously, it's a little frustrating, but that's just how the game goes sometimes.
00:25 We may need them to bail us out some games next year.
00:29 You just never know how it go, but yeah, we just try to stay together.
00:32 >> Where are you at health wise right now heading to the off season?
00:35 What's your plan to be able to come back and be full go and everything?
00:39 >> I'm good right now, a little banged up, normal soreness.
00:42 This is gonna be my first off season where I ain't gotta rehab or
00:45 go get surgery or some crazy stuff like that.
00:48 And my plan is really just to get strong, get the weight room, and
00:52 just try to do all the right things, come back next year and stay healthy.
00:57 >> You just talked about having the offense maybe having to get you on
01:01 the floor or something.
01:03 Talk about the brotherhood and what it's meant to you this season,
01:08 but also as we go forward.
01:11 >> It means a lot.
01:12 When I think of this team, that's one of the main things I'm grateful for,
01:16 just the relationships and the brotherhood.
01:18 Cuz we have a tough season like we had.
01:21 We had to lean on each other in the locker room, and
01:24 everybody else seemed to be against us or down talking us.
01:28 We had to lean on each other and lean on our brothers.
01:29 So I'm gonna miss these guys, I'm gonna miss this group.
01:33 And the record don't say it, but I swear it was a hard working group.
01:37 We got great leaders, guys that come in and be the same pros every day.
01:41 Guys like feeling, guys like hey, don't change up anything, win or lose.
01:46 So I'm just grateful to share time with guys like that,
01:49 build these relationships, hopefully come back next year and run it back.
01:53 >> There's a lot of guys futures up in the air this season.
01:55 >> [LAUGH] >> What other questions you gonna ask?
01:57 >> I need some cake.
01:58 >> [LAUGH] >> There's a lot of guys futures up in
02:01 the air this offseason.
02:02 Specifically, talk about Troy Hill,
02:04 kind of the presence he had in y'all's room this year.
02:06 >> Yeah, man, and that's what I mean when I say relationship.
02:08 Like guys like Troy, he's been doing it in his league a long time.
02:12 And it's tremendous for a guy like me to just watch.
02:17 And there's plenty of guys in the locker room, and
02:19 that's the business of the league, right?
02:21 It ain't gonna be the same team.
02:22 Every year it's gonna switch up, but you try to cherish those moments.
02:26 You take what you can from vets like Troy Hill and guys like Thielen.
02:30 You just try to make yourself a better player from it.
02:33 >> Chase, you may have said this already, and if so, I apologize, but
02:36 your reaction to Scott Federer getting fired today?
02:39 >> It's just a business.
02:42 I don't help make those decisions.
02:45 I got no say in it.
02:47 I'm thankful for him.
02:48 I'm thankful for him changing my life, giving me an opportunity to play in this
02:52 league, play for this organization.
02:54 I know he gonna do good things and big things the next opportunity he get.
02:59 Yeah.
03:00 >> Obviously the coaching change, how much would you like to see Averro stick around
03:04 to maybe get a chance to be the head coach?
03:07 >> Like I said before, I got no say in that.
03:10 No matter what I feel, I got no say in it.
03:12 I'm a big fan of Coach E.
03:14 Like I told him and Coach Cooley, they helped my game tremendously this year.
03:19 Just helped me learn a lot.
03:20 So I'd be excited if they bring him back.
03:23 But I try not to put too much into that cuz I don't want my feelings hurt.
03:26 >> [LAUGH] >> So yeah, we'll see how it goes.
03:29 >> What do you think makes him a good head coach down the line,
03:31 whether it's this offseason or years to come?
03:34 >> Just the way he leads.
03:35 And he's a pro.
03:38 I know it's weird to say that for a coach, but you see him,
03:41 he's the same guy every day, same attitude no matter what happens.
03:44 I feel like he's just super smart.
03:46 He put us in good positions to make plays.
03:49 He does a good job of transferring the information from his brain to the player's
03:53 brain, getting us to understand it in the simplest forms.
03:56 I just think he's a hell of a coach.
03:58 I'm excited for him, whatever happens.
04:00 >> What would you say is your biggest leap forward this season?
04:03 >> My biggest leap?
04:04 What was my biggest leap forward?
04:06 Really just understanding the schemes, understanding offenses, and
04:10 just learning a little more about watching film through guys like Coach E,
04:14 Coach Cooley, and the whole staff.
04:16 Really, Coach Capers, Don Capers, giving us a lot of wisdom, a lot of pointers.
04:21 So I just learned a lot from the staff in general, just being around.
04:25 >> One of the things that they said earlier,
04:27 Peyton mentioned that for Bryce, there were a lot of people trying to beat him all
04:32 at once, and maybe that contributed to some of the, you know what I mean, exactly.
04:40 Did you guys have any of that on the defensive side?
04:42 Or did you see that on the offensive side?
04:45 >> Well, I see people- >> Did you feel like Bryce was overwhelmed
04:49 with how much people were trying to help versus having one solid defense?
04:54 >> No, I mean, they're Ricky's quarterback.
04:56 I mean, I don't know what people, it's not as easy as people may think it is.
05:02 A lot of fans just think, number one pick,
05:04 he's supposed to come in and be great.
05:07 It don't work like that.
05:10 It's a learning process, and Bryce a hell of a player.
05:12 And I got the utmost confidence in him and where he gonna be in this league.
05:16 And I can't really speak on if he was overwhelmed or
05:21 if they poured too much into him, cuz that's a whole different side of the ball,
05:23 you know what I'm saying?
05:24 But I definitely believe in Bryce and think he gonna be a great quarterback.
05:29 >> Couple guys that are gonna be free agents, Brian and Frankie,
05:32 how key are these guys to be able to keep around for you guys?
05:36 >> Man, I don't even think I can put it into words.
05:39 For my job, it make it a lot easier when you got Brian-
05:42 >> And Frankie.
05:44 Yeah, man, I hope we can bring those guys back.
05:46 And like I said, man, that's two of those guys, just like my brothers,
05:49 you know what I'm saying?
05:50 Going to battle with those guys, seeing how they compete day in, day out.
05:54 I hope we able to bring them back and keep the defense together.
05:58 Cuz we show we're top defense.
06:00 We feel like we're a playoff defense, a Super Bowl defense.
06:04 And to get all those people, those pieces back, would be tremendous for us.
06:08 >> There's been a couple people in here that said this team's not that far
06:11 away despite the 2 and 15 record.
06:14 I mean, what do you say about that?
06:16 Do you feel like this is just a couple pieces away offensively from being
06:20 an offense or a team that can contend?
06:22 >> Yeah, I mean, I just think, yeah, I think we got all the pieces.
06:26 You know what I'm saying?
06:26 Obviously, we got an offensive side of the ball, I can't really speak on that.
06:30 I know we probably have to go and make moves or whatever and get more help.
06:34 But I feel like as a team, we got the leadership, we got the players.
06:40 It's just a thing where we gotta put it together.
06:43 You see it every year, I feel like a lot of people panicking just because,
06:46 no, our record didn't show that.
06:48 But I got no worries.
06:51 I think we'll turn this thing around.
06:53 And I think we got everything we want right in front of us.
