00:00 Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte and President Bongbong Marcos in Malacanang,
00:06 held a few meetings against bullying.
00:09 The following is the study that said that it is one of the reasons for the low performance of students.
00:15 Ivan Mayrila was the one who pointed it out.
00:17 Bullying has been an old problem in schools.
00:23 But it has gotten worse now because a student can be bullied for 24 hours until the campus is out of the picture through social media.
00:31 Like Ariel, who we met in 2022, she lost her real name because she was infected with the word "sick" and she was forced to deactivate her social media accounts.
00:42 It really did affect me mentally.
00:44 Although I know that for me it's nothing, but somehow it affects you and I've underwent counseling and therapy.
00:56 It's really hard receiving online mean comments.
01:01 Before, when you left school, you're away from your bully.
01:07 But now, even if you're not in school, you can continue bullying through social media platforms.
01:15 Bullying is another reason for the low performance of students in the Program for International Assessment or PISA in 2018 and 2022.
01:23 But the number in the Philippines is worse than the global average.
01:27 More than half of male students in the country experience bullying several times a month, more than 21 percent worldwide.
01:35 More than 40 percent of Filipino students experience bullying, more than the global average.
01:40 That's why Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has set up a ban on bullying in their presidential office in Malacanang.
01:48 The Learner's Rights and Protection Office has also established a ban on bullying and harassment.
01:54 More than 120 to 150 cases were resolved.
01:59 To those who are asking to complain, especially if the teacher or school official is the one who is complaining, the hotline will be spread by the deaf ed,
02:06 even to anonymous or those who are complaining that they don't want to be recognized.
02:10 Bullying is also included in the Katsia Fridays program, a program that focuses on students who are being bullied for their ability to read.
02:18 It's not just reading. It will be reading and there will also be values ed.
02:24 We can teach our learners about mental health and bullying.
02:29 The President is focusing on all aspects of education to improve Filipino students compared to others who are ranked in the country's PISA.
02:38 The President's instruction is to focus on teacher support and teacher quality, bullying in schools and nutrition.
02:48 It was proven that students who are hungry have an effect on their studies. That's why the previous 120 days of the deaf ed feeding program will be used for a whole year.
02:57 The budget of the deaf ed is a big help for this year.
03:02 For GMA Integrated News, Ivan Meyrina, Katutok, 24 Hours.
