Young Russian snowmobile racer Danil Luchina, 17, was killed instantly on 24 January 2015 during the first round of Russian Snowmobile Cross Championship held in Almetyevsk, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. During the warm-up lap he was thrown out from his vehicle after landing from jump and was hit by his snowmobile. Race was cancelled following the accident.
Danil Luchina from Noviy Urengoy raced snowmobiles for 6 years and raced in Almetyevsk before. His twin brother Maxim was also a racer and participated in the same meeting where Danil was killed, witnessing his accident.
Different sources state that his first name was Daniil, instead of Danil; this is not confirmed.
Danil Luchina was second Russian snowmobile racing fatality following Andrey Ushakov in 1998 who also was resident of Noviy Urengoy.
