00:00 During the official visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo in the Philippines,
00:05 Indonesia promised to support the formation of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea.
00:10 The family of our countryman, Mary Jane Veloso, sent a letter to him,
00:16 who is still in the death row in Indonesia.
00:20 J.P. Soriano is the witness.
00:25 The issues of the South China Sea and the cooperation of the countries in Asia
00:30 are part of the discussion of President Bongbong Marcos and Indonesian President Joko Widodo
00:36 who is in the Philippines for the three-day official visit.
00:40 President Widodo and I had a fruitful and honest discussion on regional events of mutual interest
00:46 such as the developments in the South China Sea and ASEAN cooperation and initiatives.
00:51 The Philippines and Indonesia affirmed our insistence on the universality of UNCLOS
00:58 which sets out the legal framework that governs all activities in the oceans and in the seas.
01:05 In 2002, the talks began to have a Code of Conduct or real guidance
01:12 in ASEAN and China on the issue of the South China Sea.
01:16 But it still remains vague until now.
01:20 Indonesia promised to support the formation of the Code of Conduct.
01:24 Indonesia is ready to work together with all ASEAN member states,
01:28 including with the Philippines, to finalize the Code of Conduct as soon as possible.
01:34 Indonesia also supports the cooperation on security on the borders of the two countries
01:39 through joint patrols.
01:42 But there are many things still need to be improved.
01:46 The revision of the Border Crossing Agreement and Border Patrol Agreement of 1975 need to be expedited.
02:01 The settlement of continental sea boundaries need to be pushed.
02:08 I also seek your excellency's support related to purchase of anti-submarine warfare aircrafts
02:18 from the Philippine Navy from PT-DE Indonesia.
02:22 The Palacio also asked for support to speed up the groundbreaking of the North-South Commuter Railway Project
02:29 and protection of Indonesian coffee products.
02:33 The agreement on the continued supply of coal to the Philippines and assistance related to renewable energy and natural gas was also passed earlier.
02:45 The family and supporters of Mary Jane Veloso, the OFW who is in the death row of Indonesia,
02:55 after being caught by the heroine in her 2010 car crash, was finally visited by her family in prison last Christmas.
03:03 She was stressed. She was thin. She looked old. Her friends were free.
03:12 Almost 14 years after she was arrested, Mary Jane's heart was weakened.
03:19 Her family was determined to prove the evidence that Mary Jane was just a victim.
03:25 And the recruiter was fooled. So she should be released.
03:29 When will she be released? Will she be released?
03:32 The owner is already in prison. And she was arrested.
03:36 What did they say? And why hasn't she been released yet?
03:39 If there's a crime, I will not cry like this. We accept it.
03:44 Now she has no crime. That's why I raised my children.
03:49 Fear God.
03:51 The family should have joined hands in Malacanang to deliver their letter to President Marcos and President Joko Widodo.
03:59 But in the middle of the program in Mendiola, Mary Jane's mother passed away.
04:03 So the lawyer was the one who received the letter in Palacio.
04:07 According to our DFA, questions from the court in the Philippines related to Mary Jane's case were sent to Jakarta
04:15 to be answered by our countrymen.
04:18 As part of her testimony against her recruiters, President Marcos hopes that she can also use her clemency.
04:27 The government of the Philippines will continue to do everything to help Mary Jane and her family.
