00:43 Ioannis Argueglagos.
00:45 In talking to Argueglagos in the fighter meetings,
00:52 he was very humble.
00:53 His trainer did say "Coach Flick," as they call him.
00:56 He did say he is very fast and very explosive.
01:00 - He just tried a couple of good counter shots.
01:06 Tried one over the top of the jab,
01:07 and now he's tried that little left hook
01:09 on the side of it as well.
01:10 But Lopez looks like he's here to fight too as well, guys.
01:12 I mean, trying to get underneath with that body shot.
01:15 - Yeah, I've seen Lopez in the past.
01:16 He can fight, man.
01:17 Don't let that record fool you.
01:19 Even though he's 4'2", he's really got the goods.
01:23 - And a trainer we have seen here before
01:25 with other fighters as well, Francisco "Chico" Guzman,
01:29 in the corner of Jose Lopez.

04:26 I mean, he was prolific to the body
04:27 in that first round Lopez was.
04:29 - And Lopez, interestingly,
04:31 in the fighter meetings yesterday said
04:33 he believes his most dangerous weapon is his footwork,
04:37 is his movement.
04:38 So let's keep an eye on that.
04:39 - Interesting.
04:40 - You don't usually get a guy to bring that up.
04:44 It's usually the hook or the uppercut or something,
04:46 but he just floats, Chris, is what he told us.
04:48 - Yeah, well, now we just saw that.
04:49 He did a nice little cut, angle, angle on Argueglagos,
04:52 which I would expect from the Olympian,
04:54 not the 4-2-2 fighter.
04:56 - Growing up, he was back and forth from Mexico to New York,
05:03 basically raised in the United States since age nine,
05:06 both parents from Mexico.
05:09 That is Jose Lopez.
05:10 - And Guzman wants him to stay low when he gets close,
05:14 close range, so he doesn't get caught with that speedy left hook.
05:18 And that, you can see, that's something Argueglagos has tried
05:20 and even had some loud success with,
05:22 is that hooking shot when Lopez tries to close that gap.
05:26 - Uh-huh.
05:27 - Richel Banquez, the only loss on the ledger of Argueglagos.
05:36 He said, quite simply, it was a bad day, it was a bad night,
05:39 had some stomach problems.
05:41 That is in my rear-view mirror.
05:44 - Banquez, the next IBO world champion,
05:46 and not a bad loss for you,
05:48 especially when you got less than 10 pro fights,
05:50 which at the time, I think he did.
05:51 - He did indeed, he did indeed.
05:54 - Lopez is trying to give Argueglagos
05:55 stomach problems tonight,
05:57 blasting right hands and left hooks just like that.
06:00 A moment ago, Argueglagos had a really nice left hook upstairs.
06:04 Like you said, Chico wanted him to stay low.
06:06 Lopez, a little too high, got caught hooking with the hooker.
06:10 - And that's the thing, sometimes when you're in close,
06:12 you're getting those shots off,
06:13 you have a tendency to want it to come up.
06:15 You gotta keep your center of gravity low
06:17 while getting those shots off.
06:18 - Argueglagos switching to the southpaw stance.

08:16 In that last round, he ended the overhand right,
08:19 which landed a nice shot around the gloves of Argueglagos.
08:22 Let's see if he can build off the work
08:25 he did in round one and two.
08:26 - Argueglagos started training in 2007 at the age of nine.
08:33 He liked learning the technique and getting faster.
08:36 He's in the green and yellow, purple, white, and gold
08:39 for the ultra aggressive Jose "Self Made" Lopez.
08:43 And if Chico Guzman says, "Go to the body,"
08:46 Jose listens and goes to the body.
08:48 - Man, I told you guys in the open, watch out for Lopez.
08:50 This guy comes prepared.
08:52 He's got a deceiving record.
08:53 He can fight.
08:55 - Yeah, and Argueglagos has to flash your shots.
08:57 He tries to punch in between you,
08:59 but the more consistency is with Lopez,
09:01 which makes these rounds a little bit difficult to score.
09:04 And I think Argueglagos tries to land those shots
09:06 and may be used to having his opponents leave him alone
09:09 when he punches in between them.
09:10 But it doesn't look like Lopez is gonna cooperate with that.
09:12 So Argueglagos may need to get more active.
09:15 - Yeah, the activity and the eagerness of Lopez
09:17 is really giving Argueglagos trouble.
09:19 Like you said, champ, those pot shots,
09:21 those quick counters here and there,
09:22 it's just not enough for me.
09:24 I like the consistent work from Lopez.
09:26 He's making the fight.
09:28 - Argueglagos, born in Cuba,
09:30 made his way to the United States in 2018.
09:35 Much like former heavyweight interim world champion,
09:39 Luis "King Kong" Ortiz.
09:41 Fought for the world championship twice,
09:44 lost to Deontay Wilder on both occasions.
09:48 - Good sharp work from Argueglagos
09:50 as Lopez trying to put more pressure,
09:52 not being as effective as he has been.
09:54 But Argueglagos landed some really clean shots,
09:56 right hands and left hooks.

10:00 - Argueglagos said his idol in Cuba
10:01 was the stylish southpaw, Yasmia Toledo.
10:05 Two-time Olympian, 2012 bronze medalist in London,
10:09 who lost in the semifinals to Vasily Lomachenko.
10:13 - The issue with Argueglagos is he's sharp,
10:17 but he doesn't lead there.
10:18 He goes, he does some lead there,
10:19 but for the most part, he's waiting on Lopez's work
10:21 and then trying to work off of Lopez's work.
10:23 And he doesn't do a bad job of it.
10:24 It's just at times you'd like to see him
10:26 taking the initiative and lead himself.
10:28 - Yeah, Argueglagos is definitely landing the cleaner shots,
10:32 but Lopez is out hustling.
10:33 - 45 seconds, round number three.

10:45 "I've been a fighter my entire life.
10:46 "My entire life has been a fight."
10:50 Raised by a single mother,
10:52 he is the middle of five children.
10:56 He's tried to do everything he can
10:58 for his family to help out,

11:01 works full-time to support his son and daughter.
11:04 Quick uppercut.
11:05 - It's the kind of fight, like, if you're judging,
11:08 it's like, what do you like?
11:09 Those sharp, good encounters from Argueglagos,
11:11 you like the activity of Lopez.
11:13 'Cause it seems like both men are happy
11:14 to do what they're doing.
11:15 I feel like both guys feel like they're winning.
11:17 - Yeah, but you know what?
11:18 Luckily, champ, we got eight rounds
11:19 to try to see if we can get a separation point.
11:21 Right now, it's difficult.
11:23 (crowd cheering)
11:25 - See the respect that's being used to
11:31 after that round.
11:32 - Argueglagos will see if you should respect him or not.
11:35 And then he's like, "All right, I'll give you respect."

11:47 He's very adept at punching in between you, champ.
11:50 - Yeah, that's where he's been the most sharp.
11:52 And like I said, especially that last round,
11:55 he landed the cleaner, harder shots.

12:01 which sometimes we don't notice.

12:49 if one or the other can do so, here in round number four.
12:54 - Yeah, I think down the stretch,
12:55 this fight's gonna get very interesting.
12:56 It's gonna come down to conditioning, will, heart.
12:59 'Cause both these guys are still very competitive,
13:01 very eager at this point.
13:02 - That was a nice little uppercut
13:05 a few seconds ago by Lopez.
13:08 He's starting to at least get low enough
13:09 to get away from those punches on the inside.
13:14 - The returns of Argueglagos there weren't as sharp,
13:17 or weren't as cleanly landed, or even landed, for example.
13:21 It's a good jab, though, from Argueglagos.
13:24 - Lopez, Pauly, as both of you guys well know,
13:27 fighting out of Brooklyn.
13:29 Chico Guzman was in the corner of Cesar Francis
13:33 on multiple occasions here on Pro Box TV.
13:36 He may have had the top knockout of 2022.
13:43 And our main event features Orlando Gonzalez,
13:47 who thus far arguably was in the fight of the year
13:50 against Romero Cisena,
13:51 as we mentioned in the open of the show.
13:54 Midway point in round four.
13:55 - Ooh, good jab, chopping right hand from Argueglagos.
13:58 One of the best, probably the best punch
13:59 of the fight tonight.
14:00 - And that's one thing about Lopez,
14:01 if you can criticize something,
14:02 it's he's a little bit too predictable.
14:03 He goes right to you when he throws punches.
14:05 He doesn't feint at you, he doesn't disguise it at all.
14:07 He's gonna go right to you and throw.
14:09 So he makes Argueglagos' life easier
14:11 when he's trying to punch in between.
14:13 - Good counter hooks on the inside from Argueglagos again.
14:16 - That's that speed and explosiveness, Chris,
14:19 we talked about earlier.
14:20 - It's also the class, you know,
14:22 we're looking at an Olympian here.
14:23 This guy is-
14:24 - Bronze medalist.
14:25 - Bronze medalist, that's a big deal.
14:27 He has a loss on his record, sure he got stopped,
14:28 but like you said, champion,
14:29 fought a very good fighter early in his career.
14:31 But now you're starting to see the class of Argueglagos
14:33 starting to come through.
14:34 - Also a two-time world amateur champion
14:41 on the front side and the backside
14:43 of his Olympic appearance.
14:44 Last fight was 348 days ago,
14:51 was a four round fight.
14:53 He said, "And it was crickets, but I kept my spirits up.
14:56 "I stayed in the gym and I'm looking to take it out
14:59 "on my opponent tonight."
15:00 - Lopez needs to be careful with that head.
15:04 I like the physicality in the inside,
15:06 but it can't be so obvious putting your forehead hard
15:10 against your opponents like that.
15:11 - And so many of our fighters here at Pro Box TV
15:17 have been in tough.
15:18 Last two opponents for Argueglagos,
15:21 Hermitian record of 29, four and one.
15:25 Good flurry, licking the round by both men.
15:27 Argueglagos starting to feel it.

15:48 those counter shots on the inside,
15:50 which were few and far between in the first couple rounds,
15:52 have been more consistent these last couple rounds.
15:54 That was the best round so far for Argueglagos.
15:56 - And what I'm telling him, when he's inside, get low, man,
15:58 so you don't get hit with those counter hooks.
15:59 He knows that Argueglagos is looking to come back
16:02 with those countering left hooks.
16:04 - He's got a good coach in the corner to see if he listens.

17:06 Argue Lagos started to come on a bit more in round four,
17:11 but now Lopez with that chopping style, body head.
17:15 Looking to control the ring and bully a little bit.
17:21 - Yeah, I mean, Lopez is effective, he's tough,
17:24 but it's the same gear.
17:25 - Right.
17:26 - Argue Lagos has different modes,
17:28 and you're seeing that.
17:29 And like you said, Jim, we got an eight round fight,
17:32 and the cream rises to the top the more rounds we got.
17:35 - And the issue with Argue Lagos is that,
17:37 you know, sometimes he lets himself get outworn,
17:39 but when he gets his hands going,
17:41 you can see he's, like you said,
17:42 the cream rises to the top.
17:43 It's just he risks, at times,
17:45 to allow himself to be sort of buried in work,
17:49 and then his own sharp shots don't get appreciated.
17:54 - As we're at the midway point of round number five,
17:57 is it time for Argue Lagos to turn up the tempo?
18:01 - Absolutely, I mean, he did last round.
18:03 Here, Lopez is trying to get it back,
18:05 really putting that pressure on.
18:07 And like you said, Jim, Argue Lagos,
18:08 allowing him to work up just a little too much for my liking.
18:11 - Yeah, and Lopez is his best,
18:13 his best quality is his footwork,
18:16 but it's at the same gear all the time,
18:18 so I don't know, you know, like,
18:20 on his way in, he's gonna go in and he's gonna punch,
18:22 and Argue Lagos knows that.
18:23 I mean, he says it's his footwork.
18:24 I'm not sure I'm seeing that be his best asset.
18:27 I'm looking at his doggedness and his consistency, but.
18:30 - Yeah, you see, he's gonna go right to Argue Lagos,
18:33 and he's gonna punch.
18:34 - Oh!
18:35 - That was, that was close, though.
18:41 - I would like to see that again.
18:42 That looked like it was on the belt line.
18:44 - We're gonna do it right now, here we go.
18:45 - Look at that, look at that, the guy's in the truck.

18:49 And that was low. - That was low.
18:51 And those are the ones that hurt.
18:52 Those are the ones on the corner of the cup
18:54 that come up and under, that hurt.
18:56 And you saw Argue Lagos, he went right down.
19:01 It wasn't a delayed shot at all.
19:03 - Now Argue Lagos comes out with those quick hands,
19:06 but Lopez continues to pressure.
19:09 - Lopez also smothers himself, too.
19:11 - Yeah, absolutely. - Yeah, absolutely.
19:13 - He doesn't give himself a chance
19:14 to give the honest work.
19:16 Argue Lagos is more cognizant of those range
19:18 a little bit better.
19:18 - Good right hand by Argue Lagos.

19:28 Yelling at his guy, that's great.
19:29 - Oh, they got it right.
19:34 - They did indeed.

19:37 - Yeah, he's a veteran of this ring here.
19:40 - Absolutely, and it's always great
19:42 when he brings one of his talented fighters in.
19:45 - Lopez's fighters always fight.
19:47 Chico Guzman's fighters always win,
19:50 whether one or the other.

20:06 - Look at that action, you see the shots in between.
20:34 Argue Lagos uses against Lopez,
20:37 kind of knows what Lopez is gonna do.
20:39 He kind of likes to catch and shoot.
20:40 He's been using that a lot and punching well in between
20:43 a lot of what Lopez has been trying to do.
20:45 - Yeah, but it looks like every replay we get
20:47 is the same going over and over again.
20:48 It seems like it because that's what's going on in the fight.
20:50 Lopez has not switched gears.
20:52 He's not figuring out how to get away
20:54 from those counters on the inside.
20:56 - Constant pressure from Lopez,
21:00 maybe at the same speed,
21:02 may look virtually identical each round,
21:05 but he is the busier fighter.
21:07 - The thing about Argue Lagos is a little troubling though,
21:09 he never looks to really take command of the fight.
21:12 He kind of just goes through the gears,
21:14 but he never actually comes out center ring
21:17 and say, "I'm gonna take full control of this ring."
21:19 He works off of what Lopez gives him,
21:21 and Lopez gives him plenty of chances to work
21:22 and he punches well in between.
21:24 And at times, he even allows himself
21:25 to be outworked by Lopez, which is risky.
21:27 You never see that sort of mean streak
21:30 where he's like, "I'm gonna take control of this fight."
21:32 - Yeah, I'm gonna be the boss.
21:33 If you don't see him trying to draw that line in the sand.
21:36 And that's tough because when the decision comes,
21:38 and if it doesn't go your way,
21:39 you're looking around like, "Hey, what happened?"
21:40 It's like, "Well, you let your man work."
21:42 - And also, it's something you need
21:43 if you're gonna go full on up the ladder.
21:45 - Good body shot from Lopez there.
21:47 - Good uppercut from Argue Lagos.
21:49 We saw that sense of urgency for just a moment
21:53 after the low shot.
21:55 - I think that body shot affected him.
21:56 - Yeah, Argue Lagos,
21:58 I think that hurt with a body shot at that man was,
22:01 Lopez was getting off some good shots,
22:02 even a couple of good uppercuts.
22:03 - If you wanna take away speed and movement,
22:07 if you wanna take away explosiveness,
22:10 you just stay in the face of your opponent.
22:13 That's what Jose Lopez has done.
22:15 - And bang that rib cage.
22:16 - You got that right.
22:17 - That'll set that battery real quick.

22:25 but Lopez doesn't wanna use much of it.
22:27 - You can imagine if Lopez knew how to leverage his shots
