00:00 the best coach who ever graced the NFL.
00:04 He believes in everything has to be done
00:09 at the highest level.
00:10 He believes that if you want to have a championship team
00:13 and a championship roster,
00:16 there has to be a standard of excellence,
00:18 no matter what you're doing.
00:20 Bill comes up to us, me, Logan, Dad,
00:26 and we're stretching and I look up,
00:29 and he says, he said, "You Rutgers guys,
00:31 you know what, you guys are soft like marshmallows."
00:34 And I promise you the next day,
00:36 when we go into the meeting room,
00:39 it's a three big jars of marshmallows
00:43 that he puts literally at our seat.
00:46 And we just start dying, laughing,
00:49 because, you know, a lot of people don't
00:51 see that side of Bill.
00:53 That preseason game, of course,
00:55 all three of us got interceptions,
00:57 and he comes up to us at the end of the game and says,
00:59 "Maybe I need to put marshmallows by your seats weekly."
01:02 When we run them Super Bowls,
01:07 he lets himself loose a little bit, I will tell you that.
01:10 I can honestly say I've never been around anybody
01:13 who works as hard as him.
01:15 Each day, every day, it's the same approach,
01:18 just trying to find a way to gain an edge,
01:21 trying to find a way to win and be excellent.
01:26 And that is the reason why, you know,
01:28 the Patriots organization has been successful
01:30 for as long as it has been.
01:32 It was like the N.E.N.
01:37 It was, you know, it was the Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson,
01:40 you know, the Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson.
01:42 They had a great relationship.
01:44 There was times when, you know,
01:46 Bill got on time in front of everybody.
01:49 It wasn't to demean Tom,
01:52 but it was to let everybody know
01:54 that there is a standard in this organization
01:58 and everybody has to reach the standard.
02:00 Seeing those guys work together,
02:02 it allowed me to see what that head coach, quarterback,
02:06 partnership is supposed to look like at the highest level.
02:11 It would be, in my opinion,
02:16 just the best coach who ever graced the NFL.
02:21 What he was able to accomplish over, you know,
02:25 those 20 years, 20 plus years as a Patriots coach,
02:30 we've never seen it before.
02:31 It would never be duplicated.
