00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:04 All right, go ahead and get questions for Price.
00:08 I don't know if we've talked to you
00:09 since the start of the season.
00:11 Just what has the freshman season been like for you so far?
00:13 Obviously, it hasn't been great.
00:18 I'm not shooting it how I want to.
00:19 And overall, just not playing like I know how to.
00:24 But I'm staying positive.
00:26 And I'm going to do whatever I can to help this team win.
00:30 Last year, your brother went through a little bit
00:32 of a shooting slump.
00:33 Did you go back home over Christmas and kind of--
00:35 what he did, he got in the gym with your grandpa and your dad
00:39 and just kind of worked through it.
00:41 Yeah, that's exactly what we did.
00:42 Got some workouts in with grandpa.
00:44 So that was grandpa and dad.
00:45 So it felt really good to get back with them
00:47 and go back to the basics.
00:49 And it came out right after Christmas and shot it well.
00:52 So I'm hoping I can keep that going.
00:56 High school, you could be a volume shooter,
00:57 knowing you were going to probably miss some.
00:59 But is it a different--
01:00 obviously, it's a different mindset now.
01:02 Is that part of the challenge?
01:03 Yeah, it's definitely a challenge.
01:05 Never had to really deal with not getting those shots,
01:09 like you said.
01:11 So it's definitely different.
01:12 And I'm working on getting better in the shots I get.
01:17 Is this kind of like-- would you say
01:18 this is the biggest kind of challenge you've had so far
01:21 in your basketball career?
01:22 Yeah, probably.
01:25 Yeah.
01:26 What's the advice your brother gave you?
01:29 Just keep shooting.
01:30 Keep shooting.
01:32 Yeah, that's all you really can say, I guess.
01:34 Yeah, just keep shooting it and have confidence in yourself,
01:37 and it'll go.
01:39 What's just different about playing in college
01:41 that makes it--
01:42 Yeah.
01:44 I don't know.
01:45 Kind of like what he said, just the volume.
01:47 That's how the shots-- how it's different for me.
01:50 But obviously, the speed and the strength is--
01:53 I'd say I'm used to it.
01:56 But I don't know.
01:58 Just going out there and being ready
02:01 is a challenge for me right now, too.
02:03 So I'm working on that.
02:04 And yeah.
02:07 Who in the staff is helping you kind of work
02:09 through this, Coach Gatins?
02:10 Yeah.
02:11 I've worked out with Gatins and Courtney and Tristan.
02:17 But really, all the coaches are really helpful
02:19 and trying to work me through it.
02:21 So it's been good.
02:22 Your brother, even when he's not shooting well,
02:24 still acts like every shot he takes
02:26 is going in and thinks that.
02:27 Is that-- are you like that?
02:28 Yeah, absolutely.
02:29 Yeah, I still have a lot of confidence in myself
02:31 and always believe the shots are going to go in.
02:33 That's why I come in looking for my shots
02:36 and looking to make plays and doing
02:38 whatever I can to help the team.
02:40 So you said you were working out with your dad and grandfather
02:43 over--
02:43 Yeah.
02:44 What all did those entail?
02:47 I don't know.
02:47 Just a lot of fundamental stuff.
02:50 I've worked out with my grandpa and dad since I was little.
02:52 And that's how me and Peyton became the players we are today.
02:55 So kind of just going back to the basic stuff
02:57 and getting our confidence back, getting my confidence back,
03:00 at least.
03:02 It was really good.
03:03 Did they find anything?
03:04 Did-- like, hey, my release is off by this or whatever?
03:09 No, I don't think so.
03:12 I've talked to Gatins about kind of getting in my shot quicker.
03:16 It just helps with pace and everything.
03:18 So there's been that, but it's really just going in there
03:22 and having confidence that you're going to make it.
03:25 Can you talk about just working on fundamentals
03:27 with what specifically?
03:30 I don't know, just the form shooting stuff.
03:33 You'll see me and Peyton doing it before the game, just
03:35 one-hand shots, side of the backboard,
03:37 making it come right back to you.
03:40 I don't know, just coming off screens, left, right.
03:43 It's stuff we work on here, too.
03:44 It's just more, I don't know, the drills
03:48 that we do with my grandpa is more fundamental stuff.
03:51 So I think that really helped me just kind of get back
03:53 in the mood I had in high school,
03:55 where I was just really aggressive
03:57 and looking to shoot it right away.
03:59 So yeah, it was fun getting back there.
04:02 What do you feel-- because you hit several threes in the NIU
04:05 game.
04:06 What do you feel went well there?
04:07 Trying to remember the first three I hit.
04:12 Oh, I don't know.
04:14 I could say it was pace.
04:17 Having my rhythm, getting in my jumper.
04:21 I don't know, it's hard to put a finger on what's causing
04:26 me to make having these misses.
04:28 I had early in the season, and then coming out in the NIU game
04:30 and hitting all those threes.
04:32 It's just some nights I'm going to have it,
04:34 and some nights I'm just going to miss some shots.
04:36 And I have to live with that and just continue
04:39 to do whatever I can to help the team win.
04:42 What has it been like just being here with your brother,
04:44 being able to go through a season with him?
04:46 It's been great.
04:48 He had the struggles last year that I'm having.
04:51 So he's there to help me along the way
04:53 and tell me what he did to get out of it,
04:55 because obviously he did get out of it
04:57 and played very well when he did.
05:00 So having him here, just having a family member here
05:02 to have by your side and keep your head up, it's been great.
05:09 All right, thanks, man.
05:10 Thanks, guys.
