00:04 The minimum wage there was increased by a month.

00:07 More than 100,000 Filipino factory workers are among those who will benefit from it.

00:15 It's not easy for Patrick, the OFW, to work in this factory in Taiwan.

00:24 That's why his company is giving their best effort to the Filipino workers.

00:30 Aside from the benefits, the minimum wage there was increased by almost Php 2,000 a month.

00:37 That's why it will reach almost Php 50,000 a month.

00:41 I'm happy. I'm very happy.

00:43 The wage hike of factory workers here in Taiwan is increasing yearly.

00:48 More than 100,000 Filipino factory workers in Taiwan will benefit from the wage hike.

00:55 This means a lot to our overseas workers, especially the factory workers.

01:02 We have about 120,000 of them in Taiwan.

01:06 So with that, I would like again to thank the people of Taiwan and the government of Taiwan.

01:11 Aside from this, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, or MECO, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office announced

01:19 that Taiwan needs 80,000 foreign workers like the Filipinos.

01:25 Aside from the factory workers.

01:28 We need more English teachers.

01:30 Actually, many Filipinos already went to Taiwan to be English teachers.

01:36 As long as they are an education graduate and have a license to teach from the Professional Regulation Commission or PRC, they can apply.

01:44 For English teachers, I think our teachers get as high as Php 150,000.

01:51 This announcement by Taiwan was about formally donating Php 2,000 metric tons of rice to the Philippines.

02:00 Meanwhile, despite what Chinese President Xi Jinping said this new year, that the reunification of China and Taiwan will inevitably happen,

02:12 the representative of Taiwan in the Philippines believes that it will not be able to return to the present chaos.

02:19 Although they never renounced the use of force, but this will be their last resort.

02:25 I think they will try very hard to attract our people to agree to reunify with China.

02:35 But I think the first step for them maybe they should become a democratic country.

02:41 Teco and MECO also promised that the situation in Taiwan will be safe and peaceful, and that there will be no threat to the Filipinos working there.
