00:00 We say it like every single season, this is the best comm ever.
00:07 Lauren is one of the winners in this season of the Million Dollar Fish competition, a
00:11 tourism initiative from the NT government.
00:13 At the start of each wet season, 100 tagged barramundi are released into top end waters,
00:18 each worth $10,000, with one million dollar fish released alongside them.
00:23 In the eight years the competition has been running, the million dollar fish has never
00:27 been caught, but anglers have been guaranteed that will change this year.
00:32 We can narrow the scope to make sure that somebody will absolutely be a million dollar
00:37 winner this year.
00:38 The competition is exhilarating for both anglers and businesses alike, last season bringing
00:43 in $23 million from interstate alone.
00:46 It's done wonders for my brother's business, it's done wonders for the rest of the fishing
00:50 industry, the amount of money that gets spent in all the stores.
00:54 It stirred everybody right up, got everyone completely frothing on catching barra and
00:59 just added this little element in there that really got people motivated.
01:07 And while some fishers will be happy with just one tag, Lauren won't let up until the
01:11 season is done.
01:12 The plan is to get another tag, preferably to get the million.
01:17 So while you might have some fierce competition, now is the perfect time to throw a line in
01:21 the water, you might just win big.
