McFarlane Toys Monsters Series 5 Twisted X-mas Santas Little Helpers | Christmas Spot 2023
Transcript
00:00 You better pray that you don't find these elves in your shelves.
00:04 Here's your Christmas spot on McFarlane Toys Twisted X-mas Santa's Little Helpers.
00:09 [Christmas music]
00:24 McFarlane Toys Twisted X-mas line takes a dark and disturbed departure
00:28 from the merry magical North Pole.
00:30 When they're not making toys for old Saint Nick,
00:32 Santa's helpers are often found making mischief and wreaking havoc.
00:36 Would you like to take a trip to Santa's workshop?
00:39 Yeah, me neither.
00:41 Before, of course, we get a closer look at the Twisted X-mas Santa's Little Helpers,
00:44 all three of them at least, let's grab the tape measure.
00:46 One thing you may already have noticed is I've already taken the figures
00:49 and attached them onto the display base and have already included their weapons.
00:52 We're going to kind of dismantle these because, unfortunately,
00:54 the figures can't stand on their own.
00:56 The figures are all about the same size.
00:58 I mean, obviously, you can look at them and realize that there are a few
01:00 that are a little bit bigger than one another.
01:02 The one at the back is the tallest figure,
01:04 so I guess we'll just spin this around.
01:06 If you're looking at just the height on him alone without the display stand,
01:09 you're looking at the tallest elf being about three and a half inches in height
01:12 or about nine centimeters tall.
01:14 The one on the other side is just slightly shorter than that.
01:17 The one in the middle, though, is the shortest of the three.
01:20 And if anybody was taking a tally, you'd also know as well
01:23 this is the final figure from the Twisted X-mas figures,
01:26 not including, of course, the variants because there was the variants of Mrs. Claus.
01:29 I haven't yet picked her up.
01:31 But the ones that we at least have looked at--
01:33 first, we looked at Santa Claus, I guess, really, if you wanted to,
01:36 and you could find one at an affordable price.
01:38 You could get maybe really even two Santa's Little Helpers
01:41 and have them displayed on either side of Santa.
01:43 I haven't done that yet.
01:45 We also had a look at Mrs. Claus.
01:47 Can't help but, of course, can't forget the peeping Tom elf.
01:50 We're going to put him back in the box and put him at the front of the display stand,
01:52 just lining up the whole.
01:54 Now, all of the reviews of these are on the channel currently,
01:56 so if you guys wanted to go back and see these individually,
01:59 we also have just recently looked at Rudy.
02:01 I think that was the last one we looked at prior to the Santa's Little Helpers.
02:05 My favorite of all the Twisted X-mas figures was Frosty the Snowman.
02:09 And then we also as well looked at Jack Frost.
02:11 I don't know if you guys can actually see Jack Frost.
02:13 He's a little off to the side.
02:15 You want to slide him over? We'll bring him over here.
02:17 Here's the complete set, the complete wave, that is,
02:20 a McFarlane's Twisted X-mas line.
02:22 So normally what I would do is I would show you guys the accessories
02:25 that come included with the figures.
02:27 Being the fact that these figures have to sort of serve as more of a diorama piece
02:30 than anything else, I've already taken the liberty of adding all of the weapons
02:33 that they wield into their hands.
02:35 We will be removing each of the individual figures,
02:38 but you can see probably for yourself that they have very dedicated places
02:42 where they have to go onto the display base.
02:44 To help aid you with that, if I was to say remove the elf here on the front,
02:48 they all attach, by the way, by pegs.
02:50 You may also notice with their footprint that there's numbers printed in them.
02:53 This one happens to say "1".
02:55 If you look at the bottom of the elves' feet, each one of them also have
02:57 a corresponding number to at least tell you which way that they're supposed to go.
03:01 So this is being the first elf.
03:03 I know at least it's going to plug onto the pegs on the front of the display stand.
03:06 Let's go ahead and actually take off all three of the elves,
03:09 already fully disclosing that none of them will be able to stand on their own.
03:13 This one actually is the one that stands the best, but all the other ones,
03:16 I mean, just by the way that they're sort of off-stanced like this,
03:19 sometimes you can actually get them to balance.
03:21 This one actually is the hardest one, the one that is in the front.
03:24 I guess maybe if anything, the ones on the other side can balance a little bit better.
03:27 The display stands also, already looked at, 1.
03:30 On the back, there's 3 that will go with this guy.
03:32 On the other side, there's 2 that's going to go with this guy.
03:34 The display stand itself is still, once again, frosted in that blue cast,
03:38 blue plastic, and then dusted nicely with the frosting of the white on the top.
03:42 Tiny little presents. There's a few off to the side.
03:45 There's Cindy Lou. There's one for little Sally. She's getting one there as well.
03:49 I would, by the way, none of these, I would really recommend opening them.
03:52 You don't even know what's going to be inside.
03:54 There looks to be some really evil-looking doll here on to the side.
03:57 Maybe it wasn't evil initially, but it certainly is missing an eye.
04:00 It's missing a couple of arms there also as well.
04:03 That doll has seen things.
04:06 Now, again, the display stand certainly does come in handy because,
04:09 while 2 of them I currently am succeeding to balance,
04:12 the one on the front is the one that balances the least easiest.
04:15 The least easiest? All of them, by the way, do come with weapons.
04:18 The weapons are kind of more specific to each of the elves.
04:21 So, like this one, for example, has a big giant axe.
04:24 When you get them, obviously, the first time you get these guys out of their plastic prison,
04:28 all of the weapons are individual.
04:30 And one thing, I will say this, and I'm, knock on wood,
04:33 I haven't hopefully jinxed myself by saying this,
04:36 knock on wood, all of them have on the bottoms of the handles these jingle bells.
04:41 The jingle bells attach separately.
04:43 The whole idea in mind is that you remove these,
04:45 and then you're going to slide these into the grip of the elf and attach these onto the end.
04:49 The reasoning why I am saying this, not to jinx myself necessarily,
04:53 but to tell you if you are buying these guys loose,
04:56 you want to make sure that all of the elves do have the little jingle bells on the ends of their weapons.
05:00 The axe itself, or at least the front elf, is a very destructive.
05:04 I mean, look at the damage this thing would probably do.
05:06 It's sort of serrated. It's kind of jagged, really, also in the front.
05:09 And it's molded nicely in a gunmetal gray.
05:11 Jingle bells are wrapped all around the handles here.
05:14 And this, again, will fit into the elf's hand.
05:16 You just have to first, of course, remove this, slide it into his grip.
05:20 I guess just before I do that, I want to show you guys what the elf looks like.
05:23 They all vary from one to the other.
05:24 I mean, they're actually, you know, in a way, they are very different from the elves.
05:28 I'm just going to grab the one that came included with Mrs. Claus, for example.
05:31 They have very similar aspects to them, and yet there are differences.
05:34 I mean, obviously, this one here that came included with Mrs. Claus has much longer ears,
05:37 a much snoutier snout.
05:40 Is that also a nose piercing? I can't tell.
05:42 I hope it's a nose piercing and not some piece of snot or something like that.
05:46 But you can see, like, the elves are kind of--
05:48 you can imagine that all of these elves would work for Santa
05:50 as they have sort of a consistent look to them.
05:52 But, again, they're a little bit different from one another.
05:54 Big smile on this one's face.
05:55 This one does have a couple of little earrings there onto the sides of its ears.
05:59 Also, all of these have hats.
06:01 I mean, the elf hats do vary.
06:03 This one happens to be red.
06:04 The other two are kind of-- well, that one's green.
06:06 And this one has more of a printed hat, and we'll look at it more in a second.
06:09 They have articulation, but the articulation is very limited.
06:12 So, like, this one only has just a swivel in his head, swiveled arms, swiveled waist.
06:17 And I think that's actually it.
06:18 I mean, there's no articulation from the lower half of him at least.
06:22 Little tiny jingle bell elf shoes, and, of course, peggles the undersides of his feet.
06:26 Let's get this guy wielding his weapon.
06:29 I know I so could tell I was going to be jinxing myself by saying those things are removable.
06:34 You want to just detach, take that little end piece off, that little nub bit,
06:38 and then you're going to take the axe and slide it in between his fingers.
06:41 You have to really line the two hands together, and then you'll just fit the axe down.
06:46 Pretty much-- it doesn't have to be all the way either.
06:48 I mean, even in the original images of these figures, the axe sits a little higher on these elves.
06:52 And we'll go ahead and just attach carefully before I lose it the end jingle bell.
06:57 Here we go.
06:58 So that's the first elf, and then again, he's just going to plug onto the front here.
07:01 Do we want to do this all-- maybe we'll--
07:03 we'll do it individually as we look at the individual elves.
07:05 So this one, again, is just going to plug onto the front marked by 1.
07:08 Plug on both sides and make sure it's nice and secure.
07:11 And the one that is the least stable is the one that's going to stand first.
07:14 I'm going to put him right over there.
07:15 The next elf is this one.
07:18 The reason I'm also leaving this one for the last is it's my favorite of the three.
07:21 This one actually dual wields very long-bladed weapons.
07:25 Judging by-- I can't tell whether that's rust or dry blood.
07:28 I'm-- please let it be rust.
07:30 Please let it be rust. Please let it be rust.
07:32 It's a jagged-looking sword either way, and he's actually got these big blades on both sides.
07:36 Same rule applies, though, is that you're going to have these little ball bearings,
07:39 the little jingle bells.
07:40 Those are going to detach, and then that will be the thing that slides into his hands.
07:44 Being the fact I've already shown you guys how that works with the first elf,
07:46 probably don't really necessarily need to show you guys with this one.
07:49 Has articulation, again, in the shoulders.
07:51 Nothing in the hands at all with this one.
07:53 The head also swivels back and forth only just by a little bit.
07:56 I like that this one actually has a little tiny chin beard.
07:59 See that one? Nicely colored on all the cases.
08:02 This one has a more darker color skin, and then he's got a little bit of redding
08:05 that's been added not only to the actual ears, the nose, and the bottom of the chin as well.
08:11 Keeping in mind that these are all 17-year-old figures.
08:14 Came out in 2007-- October, surprisingly enough, 2007, instead of December.
08:18 I think they're still nice-looking figures.
08:20 I mean, again, very limited articulation.
08:22 Shoulders on this one only, head, and again, just the swivels in the waist.
08:25 That's it. Nothing in the lower legs.
08:28 Some really nice detailing, though.
08:29 You've got the elf shoes down below here, a mixture of nice greens and reds.
08:33 This one also has knee pads for one reason or another.
08:35 Actually, I think all of them-- yeah, all three of them have knee pads.
08:38 And then that one we'll just plug in because if you look on the bottom of it--
08:41 see there? There's number two.
08:43 We're going to line it up with number two, and we're just going to plug it onto the back here.
08:47 And while that is secure, and while the other one is secure,
08:49 let's look at the last one and my favorite of the three.
08:52 It's not only just my favorite by the fact it has this very long,
08:55 most destructive of the weapons-- it's basically like kind of Executioner-style blade.
09:01 It's very large.
09:02 I can't even imagine how this thing could actually even wield this around.
09:05 But he also has one other accessory.
09:07 If you look on the back, he has this candy cane knife.
09:10 The knife itself looks like it's been cast or probably even painted in silver,
09:14 and then there's additional gold that they've added in there as well.
09:17 There's a loop on the back of the belt, and that slides in place.
09:20 This is something else you may want to be looking for if you're going to be buying these guys loose,
09:24 that this isn't missing.
09:27 And again, like all these little ball bearings that they have at the bottoms aren't missing either.
09:31 Now with this one, actually, this detaches in two places.
09:35 So if I can get my hands in there.
09:37 This one's a little bit harder.
09:38 It detaches right-- just detach this.
09:42 I had this done earlier, and of course now it's going to give me a little bit more of a problem.
09:48 There we go.
09:49 It detaches right there.
09:51 Can you see that or not?
09:52 It detaches right at the top, and then you're going to take this and does the--
09:58 I think the bottom comes off as well.
10:00 But this whole section, basically, you're just going to attach the top, and this basically slides out through his hands.
10:04 Being the fact, of course, I'll only be ultimately putting it back in his hands.
10:08 I'm just going to plug everything back in place.
10:09 But basically, this slides off here.
10:11 This detaches here.
10:12 It basically just slides out of his hands.
10:14 Getting a little closer look at the face on this one, he's certainly the grumpiest, the angriest, I feel, of all the elves.
10:21 And I love the way that this one's hunched over like this.
10:23 Now, this one has a lot more green than maybe the other elves that we've already had a look at.
10:27 A darker green as well as a lighter green is added in there as well.
10:30 You know, again, for these being as old of a figure as they are, the paint is really handled nicely on these.
10:35 I also really like this one, too, because it has little snowflakes for his hat.
10:39 But definitely, it's a much-- I think it's the most fun figure of the three.
10:43 Again, his articulation is very limited.
10:45 His hands or his arms, I should say, move only just in a straight swivel.
10:49 The head, if you can actually get in there, does also swivel back and forth.
10:53 The waist does move back and forth.
10:56 And again, like there's no articulation in the toes.
10:58 Not that it necessarily needs it because, again, like with these figures, you're only probably just going to be displaying them as statue pieces than anything else.
11:03 Ironically enough, though, even though he has a very large blade like he does, this figure actually is the one that stands the easiest.
11:10 The one that stands the least easiest is obviously the one that we started our review with.
11:13 But let's go ahead and plug this guy back in place.
11:16 Again, marking it by three, we're going to mark it and plug it onto the back of the display stand.
11:20 And even when you are putting them onto the display stand, so I can pick the stand up so you guys can kind of see,
11:25 they don't line up really right away.
11:27 You kind of have to stretch the legs in some of the cases, especially with this one.
11:30 You have to stretch it across and then finally push it down onto the ball joint.
11:34 And there's the stand's little helpers.
11:36 I like that this one actually came as a set of three instead of just the one.
11:39 If it was just the one, they would really have had to add other things as well, maybe a Christmas tree, maybe big giant packages.
11:45 But that's not McFarland's style.
11:47 I'm glad to see he actually did release this as a three pack, even though really they're all kind of slightly smaller figures than the ones we've looked at before.
11:53 Just, you know, again, by comparing him to say, old St. Nick with his gas mask on the front of his face,
11:59 and even comparing the three elves to Mrs. Claus, you can see again, like when we add up all of them, we get a total of five elves.
12:08 Even though really these ones already came with Mrs. Claus, at least when you're displaying them on the shelf.
12:13 If you're going to have Santa and you're going to have Mrs. Claus, you like to think as well,
12:16 you can actually have the ones that work behind the scenes working in the workshop.
12:19 So I'm glad to see that again, we got ourselves Santa's little helpers.
12:22 I'm so very tempted and I really shouldn't be because considering I only really put these out at Christmas time and then they go back into storage.
12:29 I really have been tempted to kind of try to track down another one of these so I could actually have, you know, again, two on either side of Santa Claus.
12:36 So it looks like he has a much more, many more elves than what he had originally.
12:40 From what I remember, and it's not always a lot, I think the Santa's little helpers were ones that I had to pick up separately.
12:48 As if when I initially picked up the entire lot on eBay, all of the figures were there except for this set.
12:53 And I remember I had to pick these ones up separately. And even then they were a little bit more expensive.
12:58 It could have very well been the case that Santa's little helpers were more the rare or the limited,
13:03 limited figures for that pack, or maybe they weren't even part of the original retail releases.
13:08 Either way though, these are also one of the more expensive ones to look online.
13:12 Ironically, again, enough, all the figures are the, you know, sitting at around $90 to $100, sometimes even well into $120, $140.
13:19 The one that's honestly still the least expensive is Rudy the reindeer.
13:22 So if you want to kind of get into this collecting of Xmas, twisted Xmas figures, but you want to start slow,
13:28 I think the best place is probably start to look at Rudy reindeer first before you start trying to track down the more expensive looking figures.
13:34 Funny enough though, with these being stored away as many times as they have, because again, they only come out at Christmas time,
13:39 I usually open them up at like late November. I put them out on display.
13:44 I like to try to get as much mileage out of, for example, my Christmas displays before I have to pack them away again.
13:49 These guys will be out again until probably like the first week or so of January, and then they'll be going back into bags.
13:55 Ironically though, between all the transit time of putting these back in bags, taking them out of bags,
14:00 nothing has really been lost on all of these figures except for one branch for Jack Frost.
14:05 I did mention that in that review. What could have potentially been broken or lost are the things that come included with Santa's little helpers.
14:11 All of those tiny little balls that go on the bottoms of their handles. Very susceptible to being lost and knock on wood, I haven't lost anything yet.
14:19 Still though, I have to put these guys on display and I have to still put them back away in January between now and then.
14:25 Well, let's hope. Let's hope. One thing I do also really like is the way they attach onto the display base by numbers.
14:31 So instead of just kind of looking at these and guessing for yourselves the configuration of the feet,
14:35 McFarlane does a simpler task of just adding numbers onto the display base and providing you look at the bottoms of the feet on each of the soles of the elves,
14:42 you know right away which elf is supposed to go where. The figures do attach with their handles of the weapons.
14:47 The one that we looked at last with the largest looking blade was the hardest one to attach.
14:52 I had a bit of a struggle. I don't know why because these guys were already on my shelf and yet I struggled.
14:57 Of course, it's always the case when you hit record, that's the time that you freeze.
15:01 But yeah, that's the hardest one to kind of put into his hand because you have to kind of put the handle in on one hand
15:07 and then you have to fit the main part of the blade inside between the hands before you snap essentially the end of the blade on the end of the handle.
15:14 Does that make any sense? It made sense as I was saying it. It probably sounded even more confusing me actually saying it on camera.
15:21 But what do you guys think of Santa's little helpers? Let me know down below in the comments section.
15:25 Again, have you guys been collecting the Twisted Xmas figures? Do you have all of them?
15:29 Or is there any ones that you guys are currently missing and trying to find now?
15:32 Also as well, hey, if you guys enjoyed this video, now this is the last unfortunately of the Twisted Xmas figures,
15:37 but we are still going to be looking at some more Christmas stuff during of course the rest of this month.
15:42 We're about halfway through if I'm looking at my outdated calendar correctly.
15:46 Now we're about halfway through December, so there's still a good likelihood we're going to be looking at some more Christmas goodies that's underneath the tree,
15:52 making sure that you're not missing out on any of that. You can do a couple of steps.
15:56 First of all, if you like the video, hit it with a like. If you're loving the content, yes, hit the subscribe button down below.
16:01 And more importantly as well, make sure to turn on bell notification.
16:04 I know it's always a thing that all of us say to you guys, turn the bell notification on.
16:08 And you're probably thinking to yourself, I'm so tired of hearing that. Why do you have to keep saying it?
16:11 The reasoning I have to say that is just by the way that the algorithm works with YouTube.
16:16 You don't always get those notifications sadly of when new videos get posted.
16:20 By hitting the bell notification, it's your way of telling YouTube, hey, I'm back here. I want to be heard.
16:25 I want to see more of the content that's being posted by the person behind the camera, which is me.
16:29 So turning on the bell notification does certainly go a long way to ensure that you're getting all those notifications that you're in the know whenever new videos go up.
16:37 As always guys, thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
