00:00 St. Nicholas is not coming this year. Instead of much darker, ancient spirits, his name is Krampus.
00:06 He and his helpers did not come to give, but to take.
00:09 Here's your Christmas spot on the Royal Baubles' Krampus Baublehead.
00:13 [music]
00:28 [paper rustling]
00:47 Krampus is coming to town as a bobblehead this holiday season.
00:50 This royal bauble is from the 2015 American horror comedy film
00:53 based upon the titular character from Germanic folklore.
00:56 A little sugar, a little spice makes everything nice.
00:59 Oh, I'm convinced the naughty kids won't be getting cold this Christmas.
01:02 Before, of course, we get a closer look at the Royal Baubles' Krampus Baublehead,
01:05 let me send out a big thank you first to the folks over at Royal Baubles
01:08 that did provide this sample we could have a look at.
01:10 It is currently available over on their sites.
01:12 The folks over at Royal Baubles have also created a coupon code.
01:15 If you guys would be interested in, say, 15% off,
01:18 you can head over to their website and use review spot 15.
01:21 Say 15% on any purchase of baubleheads over there.
01:24 Krampus, though, in the meantime, stands 6 1/2 inches in height,
01:28 or the baublehead's going to be about 16 centimeters tall.
01:31 Just bring in a couple of horror baubleheads from other holidays.
01:35 Here's what the Krampus looks like with the partially unmasked--
01:38 I think this was the lollipop slasher version of Sam.
01:41 If you were to, say, look at the horns,
01:43 then you'd see that the figures are going to be about the same size to one another.
01:46 If you don't count the horns, of course, on the top of Krampus' head,
01:49 he's a lot shorter than Sam.
01:50 Another figure also we've looked at here, from Halloween at least,
01:53 is what the baublehead of Krampus looks like
01:55 along with the baublehead of Michael Myers standing behind the bush.
01:58 As always is the case, the baubleheads are carefully packed inside of styrofoam--
02:03 you saw that at the beginning of this review.
02:05 And also, one thing that I had a bit of a snag with--
02:07 they're also wrapped carefully as well with foam
02:09 that is just tucked underneath the head to prevent the head from baubling about.
02:13 One was a little bit snagged here--
02:15 you probably saw at the beginning of this video--
02:16 just around the beard and the nail section,
02:18 as those are more sharp and pointed pieces.
02:20 You just want to be careful, of course, when you're removing it,
02:22 because you'd hate to have the Krampus break in the process.
02:25 What a nice-looking figure this is.
02:26 A nice baublehead this is.
02:28 Krampus, as you can see, is perched on top of the house.
02:30 The house itself, you're only getting a roof,
02:32 but at least you get windows there on one side and on the other as well.
02:36 I think as a fun little touch,
02:37 they could have put a little silhouette of a child looking out the window,
02:40 wondering if they heard maybe Santa Claus walking across the rooftop.
02:44 It's certainly not Santa this time around, though.
02:46 I will say, though, I really like the coloring of the roof, though.
02:48 By bringing in more darker, colder colors,
02:50 it not only then brings more attention to the fact that Krampus is on top of it,
02:54 but it also certainly sells the idea that this is a more icier wonderland.
02:58 As Krampus arrives to town, everything basically shuts down.
03:01 On the bottom of also the stand, you can see as well,
03:04 it says "Royal Baubles Premium Quality Collectibles,"
03:06 which our website has always been the case, www.royalbaubles.com.
03:10 Protected as well on the baum's corners, at least.
03:13 You've got some rubberized feet as well to prevent scratching on surfaces.
03:16 But again, nice little rooftop that they got.
03:17 They also got little icicles there as well, just underneath,
03:20 and a little bit of settled snow.
03:22 All again, really done in this nice ice blue.
03:24 Of course, the main focal point of this is the fact that Krampus is perched on top of this.
03:28 Krampus, as you can see, is sort of more the darker shadow of Santa Claus.
03:32 So he has a beard, he has, of course, the hood,
03:34 but then he has other things that aren't affiliated with necessarily Santa,
03:37 like very long fingernails.
03:39 One thing I really didn't notice right away in the movie
03:41 was that Krampus actually is sporting some rings.
03:44 A couple of rings on one, and he's sporting one on the other.
03:46 I really like the darker colors that they went with here.
03:48 Krampus comes across more kind of a lighter gray,
03:51 and he's got some nice more lighter colors of white,
03:53 or kind of a lighter gray that they've used for the beard as well.
03:57 Now, Krampus generally has the open mouth,
03:59 especially when we see what little we see of him in the movie.
04:02 He sort of is basically just like saundering around with his mouth open like this,
04:05 and they've nicely done that as well.
04:07 You can kind of see inside the mouth, tops and bottoms of teeth.
04:10 It almost looks as well as like it got a second set of teeth.
04:13 Can you actually see that?
04:14 Looks like he's actually got like a second set of teeth on the inside.
04:17 That's very creepy.
04:19 And of course, you also have the very glowing eyes there of Krampus,
04:21 nicely done in very-- I think these are all hand-painted pieces as well.
04:25 Nicely done here more in a orange paint as well.
04:28 If we spin around the side of Krampus,
04:30 it really gives you a chance as well to see all the meticulous work
04:33 that they took the time to sculpt and paint.
04:35 The fact that they would have to go in there and, say, for example,
04:37 paint the chains, that's very close in quarters
04:39 to basically the robe and cloak that he wears.
04:41 I would imagine like silver would be very easy to find its way then
04:44 onto the more crimson colors.
04:46 But yet, the paint is really nicely done here.
04:48 You can see all the little locks and bolts and chains that he has
04:51 wrapped around the back of his body.
04:53 A really, really nice-looking Krampus.
04:55 I would love to see them also release a Krampus
04:57 that isn't necessarily a rooftop purse.
04:59 Perhaps maybe just one that's freestanding, for example,
05:02 and then you get the full effect of his body.
05:04 I'd love to see that maybe as a future release.
05:06 And of course, one other thing that isn't Santa Claus-related
05:08 is the fact he has these big, giant ram horns
05:11 sticking out the top of his head.
05:13 Things like this, for example, things like his fingers
05:15 are all more susceptible to breaking.
05:17 So carefully, always be the case when you're carefully
05:19 taking these out of their trays, and very carefully also
05:21 when you have these on display.
05:23 I'm going to be putting this guy out right now after this review
05:25 on my mantle with some of my other Christmas decorations as well.
05:28 Now, this is not only simply just a really stunning-looking statue,
05:31 but also as well it's a bobblehead.
05:33 So the bobblehead does have a built-in spring.
05:35 You can see--maybe you might be able to see--
05:37 in between the head and the rest of the body,
05:39 there's a little bit of a gap space, and there's the spring sitting inside.
05:42 It does do enough to bobble the head back and forth,
05:45 but maybe it doesn't have as much luxury as, maybe, say, Sam.
05:48 Sam's head was really basically on the top,
05:50 and the springs went straight up.
05:52 This actually looks like the spring is kind of more sideways,
05:54 so the bobbling part of at least Krampus doesn't bobble
05:57 maybe as much as, say, Sam or Michael Myers that we looked at before.
06:00 Even though it doesn't bobble as much,
06:02 it is just, again, a stunning-looking bobblehead statue,
06:05 one that I'm certainly going to be putting out every holiday season.
06:08 Now, again, the neat thing about these is not only, again--
06:11 even if you're not big on the idea of bobbleheads,
06:13 the thing that always draws me in when it comes to stuff that Royal Bobbles is doing
06:17 is that they really essentially put out premium-quality statues
06:21 that just happen to have the benefit as well of a bobblehead built in.
06:25 While Krampus, again, doesn't have as much of a bobbling,
06:27 say, as Sam or, say, as Michael Myers,
06:30 boy, it's a really nice piece to be putting on display.
06:32 Probably not one you're going to be putting out all year round,
06:34 but at Christmas time, no doubt,
06:36 Krampus may be finding his way onto the mantle
06:39 and hopefully not finding his way onto your rooftop either.
06:42 Coming out in 2015 and being an annual tradition in my house ever since,
06:46 I'll have to watch Krampus every single year.
06:48 I don't tend to watch it at the beginning of the month.
06:50 It seems to be something I kind of wait till closer to Christmas
06:53 because, like Krampus arriving at Christmas time,
06:55 I kind of want to do the same, too.
06:56 I like to keep more of the Christmas-- kind of the classics
06:59 or the ones I like to watch the most closer to the Christmas time,
07:02 as close as I possibly can get.
07:03 Michael Dory, in fact, actually both directed and wrote this movie.
07:07 He was also responsible for doing Trick or Treat,
07:09 two classics from two different holiday slashers.
07:12 Him doing, of course, Trick or Treat for Halloween,
07:14 Krampus now for Christmas time,
07:15 and one, again, nice Christmas classic it is
07:17 with Krampus now being a bobblehead
07:19 produced by the folks over at Royal Baubles.
07:21 The thing I really also like about this
07:22 is the cold colors that they went with here,
07:24 even like Krampus.
07:25 Krampus isn't brightly colored here in Crimson.
07:27 He's actually kind of more like dark, gloomy, and cold,
07:30 like the rooftop he's on top of.
07:32 One thing I did mention in this review
07:33 is something I would love to see Royal Baubles do
07:35 maybe for a future Krampus release,
07:37 if they ever plan to do Krampus again,
07:39 is maybe release him as just standing on his own,
07:42 not necessarily on top of a rooftop necessarily,
07:44 but just actually having him just standing on his own
07:46 with the bobbleheading feature on the front.
07:48 That would be definitely a cool bobblehead to be picking up.
07:50 Speaking, though, of picking up,
07:52 if you guys are interested, get this one for yourself.
07:54 It is available over at Royal Baubles.
07:56 And once mentioned already,
07:57 you can also use the coupon code of ReviewSpot15.
08:00 Save yourself 15% on anything that's over on their site
08:03 for Royal Baubles.
08:04 And again, a big thank you to Royal Baubles
08:05 for providing this sample during the holiday season
08:08 where we had the chance to have a look
08:09 at the Krampus bobblehead.
08:10 What do you guys think of it?
