00:00 Cats are tired of dogs playing and having fun.
00:05 They steal all the balls and shoot them into space.
00:09 The dogs are devastated, but they are not ready to give up.
00:13 They fly to space to bring their precious tennis balls back.
00:18 This is Space Open, the board game for cool people.
00:22 I love to play board games, but my friends and I are usually too lazy to try out new
00:27 ones.
00:28 To be honest, they require some time and some patience to be learned.
00:31 So I had the idea of creating a new game that is fast to learn and also easy to play.
00:37 The easy games I know get boring quite fast because the main factor that controls the
00:41 game is luck.
00:42 My goal was to combine different psychological aspects such as problem solving, teamwork
00:48 and loss aversion.
00:50 I applied my knowledge from business psychology and conducted further research into the psychology
00:55 of board games.
00:56 I was asking myself, why do we like certain games?
01:00 Why do we play certain games more often than others?
01:03 What makes us get angry and frustrated even though we know it's just a game?
01:08 The biggest challenge I had was to combine all these different aspects into a board game
01:13 without making it complicated.
01:15 Well, it turns out there's a good reason why board games are complicated.
01:20 I made my first prototype and I was quite happy with it.
01:22 But then the troubles begin.
01:24 The game was easy to learn but definitely not easy to play.
01:28 But I wasn't ready to give up yet.
01:30 So after two years and 14 failed prototypes, I was finally able to finish a game that is
01:37 fast to learn and also easy to play.
01:42 A year ago, I was working a lot and I couldn't take my dog with me.
01:46 So during the day, she was usually staying with friends or at home.
01:50 One day she got injured and needed to be operated immediately.
01:53 I was shocked and scared and I realized that I want to spend more time with her.
01:58 So I decided to quit my job and use my savings to start my own company.
02:03 I must say that this is the scariest thing I've ever done.
02:06 But I'm really happy that I made this decision.
02:09 I'm meeting new people, I'm trying out different things.
02:13 I'm so often out of my comfort zone, for example, for this video production.
02:20 Now every day is an adventure and I'm here on Kickstarter because I need your help to
02:24 make it happen.
02:25 Let's make the world a little bit better with a really cool game.
