In 2017, The Blair Witch Project director Eduardo Sanchez found an unusual board game called Glim at an estate sale. But, with only a few faded cards depicting fairies, a deteriorated play mat and no rules, it was impossible to tell how it was played.

Then, in 2021, game designers Jenn Ellis and Keith Baker showed Sanchez their own strange fairy collectible: puppets of similar winged beings and a hand-written set of rules for a dice game supposedly played on a fairy-world called Hada. Intrigued, the trio dug into this mysterious lore and uncovered stories, reports and images from all over the world.

Now, after three years of painstaking research and a collaboration with visual artist Ren Lindroos and graphic designer Adi Slepack, Sanchez’s new company, Emerald Anvil, is proud to present a recreation of this intriguing artifact. What was once a gambling game played by the Hadeen themselves is now a 'Earthly' dice-based, push-your-luck game with elements of deck-building.
Gameplay

At the start of the game, each player chooses a dominion and persona. Six cards are dealt onto the cloth board; the players will compete to control these resources and gain their Glim power.

The different dominions have access to unique tactics and styles of play. Each turn, a player chooses a tactic and rolls up to six of the custom eight-sided dice; based on the tactic and the result of the roll, they place one or more influence tokens on one of the resource cards.

A round continues until all players have committed all of their influence tokens, at which point players with the most tokens on a resource collect that card. Each card has a Glim value, which is vital for winning the game—but each card also provides an ability that can be used in subsequent rounds. Six new resources are dealt, and a new round begins.

As players acquire resources and gain additional influence, each round has deeper strategy than the one before. Whoever has the most Glim at the end of the third round of play is declared the winner!
