00:00 Without question, for me, the most memorable weather event of 2023 was Hurricane Lee.
00:07 This was a Category 5 storm. It made landfall in southwestern Nova Scotia.
00:12 But to me, the storm was actually really personal.
00:15 One of the benefits and one of the privileges of working at a national network
00:20 is you get to forecast for the entire country.
00:22 And for me, that means I can forecast for my home and for my own family.
00:25 Provincetown, P-Town, the furthest point on the Cape does have some issues in store here.
00:30 We appreciate you joining us to talk about what's going on in the Lower Cape here.
00:33 And since Lee impacted southern New England and even along the coast of Maine,
00:38 that means I got to forecast for my parents, for my friends, for my cousins.
00:42 To be able to call my parents and say, "Hey, Mom and Dad, you're going to have some nasty impacts from this storm. Be careful."
00:49 Our crews on the ground, our storm chasers, you know, Tony Lobat, for example.
00:54 We've got some big waves that are coming in.
00:56 He was up in southern Maine along the coast in a town called Wells where there's a big sea wall
01:00 and you could see the waves crashing over the wall.
01:03 And I grew up going there every summer, so I got to call Tony afterwards and say,
01:09 "Hey, Tony, if you need a place to eat, I've got 30 recommendations for you."
01:13 Here we go. Welcome to Maine, folks.
01:15 So there's the impact of safety, obviously being able to help people, being able to help my family
01:20 during a storm that was pretty nasty for a lot of people, and just the joy of being able to share my home
01:25 with so many of the people that we work with.
