00:00 Hey everyone, I'm Zach Gale with Motor Trend and we're here at our El Segundo headquarters
00:04 here to run this Lucid Air to zero miles of range. This car may have 446 miles of range but we're
00:11 going to find out what happens when it goes to zero. So join us as we drive north of Los Angeles
00:16 to see how far this Lucid can really go. All right we've made it to the valley and we're at 10 miles
00:23 and two percent range in a car that normally gets 446 miles of range and we are about to find out
00:31 just how low it can go. And there's a new alert that's a little more urgent than before. It says
00:42 charge now on big red letters. I've never seen that before. We're at nine miles and two percent.
00:53 It's not great. Oh okay battery critically low.
00:56 It's not happy with us.
01:00 May shut down. Okay I'm going to park now.
01:05 Vehicle may shut down unexpectedly. Charge immediately. Three miles.
01:13 Zero percent. Okay we're at zero. Power reduced vehicle can be driven but performance may be
01:22 limited. Seven miles. Zero. We're supposedly in turtle mode but we just went like 35 almost 40
01:32 miles per hour. It's pulsing pulsating. Can you feel that? All right I'm calling it.
01:38 Send it. Lucid 125 pm November 20th 2023. Time of death. 20 miles. Well hopefully not death but
01:50 zero zero zero. Yeah that is impressive. So for quite a while the car actually didn't show any
01:58 evidence of having a problem at all even when it was at zero miles of range which again is really
02:04 impressive. After a few miles the car went into a turtle mode which basically for us meant it
02:11 could only go up to around 40 miles per hour and at a hill just down the street here it was really
02:17 having trouble getting up there. We barely managed 10 or 15 miles per hour but the whole time the car
02:24 kept us informed of what was happening. There was a red alert flashing in the instrument cluster
02:30 and it really did give us more than enough time to find a safe place to stop.
02:36 So
02:44 we finally made it to the Electrify America station and 35 minutes later
02:55 after waiting for an Ioniq 5 to leave we are in business. So the car has been charging for
03:03 five minutes it has almost no range right now we just need enough to get home and then we will
03:09 finally be done with this adventure. And if you want the full story head to Motortrend.com
