Transcript
00:00 I love your suit.
00:01 I love your suit.
00:02 I love it.
00:03 We're in the Christmas spirit.
00:04 Yes.
00:05 Let's do it.
00:06 Super festive over here.
00:07 Super festive.
00:08 I mean, it's the finale of The Voice.
00:09 Energy is great right now.
00:10 We did the math.
00:11 You've got a 20% chance of winning tomorrow with Lila.
00:13 It would be your second win.
00:15 Why should we bet on your team?
00:17 Well, I like the idea of only having one artist from Team Legend in the finale because, you
00:22 know, I think with Reba and Niall having two artists, it might split up their votes a little
00:27 bit.
00:28 It's tough, yeah.
00:29 But, you know, who wants to vote for Team Legend?
00:31 You've only got one artist to vote for.
00:33 Vote for Lila.
00:34 Makes it real easy for everybody out there voting.
00:36 You know, this is a pivotal moment in any contestant's career.
00:40 This moment before the finale.
00:41 What kinds of conversations have you and Lila had over the past 24 hours going into the
00:46 finale, bracing her for hopefully good news tomorrow, but, you know, maybe the alternative
00:50 too?
00:51 Well, I think it really doesn't matter if she wins or not in so many ways.
00:56 I think her career has already been set up beautifully by what she's done on the show
01:01 so far.
01:02 She's really distinguished herself as a great artist, as an artist who everybody wants to
01:06 hear what her record would sound like.
01:07 Everybody wants to hear what her songwriting would sound like.
01:10 All of that has happened already, and whether she takes the trophy home or not won't affect
01:14 that.
01:15 But it'll be nice to win.
01:16 We want to win, so vote for her.
01:19 But either way, she's done so much to establish herself out in the world.
01:23 She's sung in front of millions of people, and they've fallen in love with her.
01:27 And no matter what happens tomorrow with the vote, we know that she's accomplished so much
01:33 for her career and set herself up really well to go on to succeed in the future.
01:37 We got our fingers crossed for Miss Lila.
01:39 It's a wonderful time right now.
01:40 We've got the finale of The Voice.
01:41 We've got the holidays coming up.
01:43 The most wonderful time.
01:46 I can't believe you just sang to me.
01:48 This is literally what people pay millions for.
01:49 It is the most wonderful time of the year.
01:51 We're going into the holidays.
01:53 And for you, what a beautiful year.
01:55 A family of six.
01:57 How will this holiday season feel different?
01:59 Well, it's our first one as a family of six, so it's very exciting.
02:02 Estie was born in January.
02:04 Wren was born in June.
02:06 So they've never had Christmas before.
02:08 They won't really get it yet.
02:10 But we're excited to have all of us together celebrating Christmas.
02:14 We're not going to be working over the holidays.
02:15 We're just going to relax and enjoy each other.
02:17 And I'm excited for that.
02:18 I'm excited for the holidays, and I'm excited you've got a birthday coming up.
02:22 You have completed one half of a decade.
02:24 It often gets forgotten.
02:25 No, not on--
02:26 It often gets forgotten.
02:27 Not on "Entertainment Tonight."
02:28 That between Christmas, New Year thing, it's rough.
02:30 No, December 28th is National John Legend Day.
02:33 You have-- you will have completed half a decade.
02:36 So as this next half lies ahead, what's a goal personally and professionally?
02:40 Oh, you know, personally, I just focus on trying to be the best dad and best husband
02:45 I can be.
02:46 And then professionally, I'm always looking to create and to continue to keep the bar
02:51 for myself, the standard for myself really high.
02:54 Every song I write, every record I put out, I just want it to be my best work.
02:58 Every performance I do, I want it to be my best work.
03:01 So I'm going to just keep that bar really high for myself and try to meet it.
03:04 My final question for you.
03:05 We're so excited that you're back for "The Voice," season 25.
03:09 You've been a mainstay for a couple minutes here now.
03:11 How long do you see yourself being a part of this TV series?
03:15 I love being a part of it.
03:16 Hopefully they'll keep asking me to come back.
03:18 But I love doing it because I love the interaction that I get to have with these artists.
03:23 I really get inspired by working with them.
03:25 I learn something by trying to teach them and coach them and mentor them.
03:29 I really learn a lot myself.
03:30 And I think it's made me a better artist.
03:32 And I get joy just being able to make music with these really talented human beings who
03:38 have a dream and want to be in the place where I am in my career.
03:41 I get inspired.
03:42 I get filled with joy through this process.
03:45 And I'm excited to do it again in season 25.
03:48 Wow.
03:49 Even eGots get inspired time and time again.
03:51 I appreciate you.
03:52 Absolutely.
03:53 Thank you.
03:54 Thank you.
03:55 Have a happy holiday.
03:55 Thank you.
03:56 Thank you.
03:56 Thank you.
