00:00 like close in together usually at but it's like spread out but everybody was
00:03 close together and it was loud honestly um
00:07 i love fitting here so yeah for samford like 11 times in the first
00:13 quarter just what did you think of y'all's early defense kind of setting
00:16 that tone that nothing was going to be easy for them
00:19 yeah so urgency was basically what we wanted to come out and do
00:23 we knew that coming off of the loss that we had on sunday um
00:26 we didn't play our defensive uh we didn't play our best defensively
00:29 so coming out in this game we kind of wanted to get back to what we normally
00:33 do and i feel like that's what we did i agree and it seemed like late in the
00:38 game especially you just kind of started to
00:40 you know really feel your way around getting to the rim get strong fouls just
00:44 whenever you know you're able to do that um how
00:47 aggressive kind of do you turn your mindset
00:49 i was aggressive in the first half but it just they weren't falling so just to
00:53 know like it'll eventually start falling um i
00:55 kind of knew like we let samford samford stick around and
01:00 you know they probably shouldn't have been in the game with us but at that
01:03 point in time it was more so like okay like we're trying to get a win here so
01:07 do what you have to do to help your team get a win
01:10 for you sam efficient game 15 points in that second half he mentioned the late
01:14 scoring 6-0 personal run they'd cut it 10
01:17 y'all kind of expanded back to 16 and they really weren't much of a threat
01:20 after that talk about the scoring but also
01:23 we got recent discussion with you jack of all trades rebounds assist keeping
01:27 those turnovers low and then the efficiency um yeah so just
01:31 getting in there making sure that we secure rebounds i
01:34 know for sure uh sailor and mariam did most of our
01:37 rebounding tonight but it was those little rebounds when they
01:40 were going after it and the ball bounced that
01:42 us little guards could get so i just feel like
01:45 doing the things like the little things to help my team get a win is what i'm
01:48 here to do all right cord you guys after data hit
01:52 that first three to start the game kind of struggled there but
01:54 you got them going you hit some threes and kind of carried the scoring load for
01:58 a while what did you feel about your game tonight on that
02:00 part of it she want to say in a timeout knaves told us the next time we get an
02:04 open three drive it and i still shot it so really i
02:07 didn't have a choice but to make it but i think just like realizing like those
02:11 are shots we take every day like we should have the utmost confidence when
02:14 we're shooting those shots like we practice them every day and just knowing
02:17 like yeah we're in a little low right now but
02:20 like it's the first quarter it's the first half like we still have time to go
02:23 on a run so just remaining like calm and steady instead of like panicking
02:27 oh we're on a like we're in a little freeze area but
02:30 just remaining like calm and steady and a follow-up on the offense you guys
02:34 dominated points in the paint 28 12 a lot of that y'all started getting
02:37 your backdoor cuts keats came in and got some runners y'all
02:40 started really attacking the paint talk about how special this
02:43 backcourt can be because people think a big's finishing inside but you guys
02:46 were getting into the room um i honestly think it has a lot to do
02:49 with our front court marion being able to hit that three brought their big out
02:52 a lot and going into the game we were like we're
02:54 not going to get as many layers because they have someone protecting the rim but
02:57 marion being able to hit those threes like that drags her out and then we can
03:00 re-attack in those gaps
03:04 that three uh i think to end the first half y'all's team it's like y'all are
03:09 really good on last possessions of quarters and stuff like
03:13 hitting big shots just you want me kind of through that possession and i know
03:16 you like that spot um well number one i back to again
03:20 confidence i think we're all confident and we want to take that shot at the end
03:22 of the quarter end of the game or end of the half but um uh me and sam
03:26 talked about in halftime i was like i didn't think i was going to be open
03:28 like i thought they saw me running and i thought someone's going to jump in the
03:31 passing lane but i just i think it's confidence we're all
03:33 confident that we can make those shots and last thing i have is um jenna
03:38 played nine minutes at five rebounds it just felt like her presence was really
03:42 big uh today what do y'all think about you know
03:44 maybe the work that she's been putting in to have a game like that
03:47 uh i think every day she comes into practice with a great attitude and we
03:50 know she's a shooter and i feel like she's kind of had a hard time adjusting
03:53 but never once has she got down on herself or been a bad teammate she's
03:57 always just stuck with the process and she apologized i threw it to her
04:00 today she apologized for missing i'm like i don't care that you miss i just
04:03 want you to shoot it and then the second half of course she makes it i'm like
04:05 i don't like i'm not basing it off whether you make it or not i want you to
04:08 shoot it when you're open you're a shooter i want you to shoot
04:12 it just comes in another place that's what i love about jenna she'll come and do
04:15 whatever we need her to do no questions asked with a smile on her
04:18 face so that's that's the good thing about her
04:21 great scorers have games like this talia young players still
04:24 what was the vibe like in the huddle or from the backcourt mentoring her through
04:28 this game to still stay focused on the goal at hand which is to win
04:31 and fight through well we know talia sometimes like she she wants to do good
04:37 for us and when she isn't it'll be it's tough
04:40 for her but you know just us being able to encourage her like
04:43 you're good like we got you like even though you're down we're here to
04:46 like pick you up um some players are kind of like they
04:50 kind of just like need their time to themselves and i feel like she's that
04:53 type of person but as long as we keep encouraging her like
04:56 every few minutes i feel like that's how she kind of she she
04:59 didn't do bad but she didn't do what we know she's capable of and so
05:03 just keeping encouraging her throughout the game
05:06 i think is what kept her in the game with us and i think
05:09 letting her know like this is one game out of the whole season like it might
05:13 feel like the world is ending right now while you're in the moment but tomorrow
05:16 it no one's gonna remember that you played how you played and in my eye
05:19 she didn't play poorly like she was getting after it on the defensive
05:22 end but i know being a freshman it just feels like you know
05:26 everything's going wrong and like you you can't help but be frustrated and so
05:29 just like saying the little things turn when she's
05:32 at the free throw line or while we're in transition like just to keep those
05:35 encouraging words and maybe she may not receive it at that
05:38 moment but like just knowing that your teammates believe
05:41 in you i feel like it's a different type of trust
