The organisers hoped to give back some festive cheer back to the school community as the cost of living crisis continues across the county.

00:00 The codename, Project Pudding.
00:02 The mission, sneaking some Christmas cheer into Elford's Valley and Victor Primary School
00:08 under everyone's notice.
00:10 Top secret since January, even James Bond may have had his work cut out for him, keeping
00:15 these curious kids from catching on.
00:18 Let alone the Parent Teacher Association who organised the event.
00:23 Yeah, we had to codename it because our children tend to hear everything we're talking about,
00:28 PTA, so we've had lots of meetings and secret conversations about our Project Pudding and
00:35 I say even this morning my daughter didn't know what was happening.
00:38 The teacher told us she could tell class what was happening, but she didn't know herself.
00:41 But this undercover Yuletide celebration wasn't just classified for these pupils.
00:47 This seasonal secret was just as shocking for staff as well.
00:50 Well I think in all honesty I thought we would have more excited staff than we were children.
00:55 They've been just as excited as the children.
00:56 So to keep this all under wraps, again all credit goes to the PTA, they didn't even tell
01:01 their own children that the event was happening, so they've been absolutely taking the lead
01:06 on making such a wonderful thing happen.
01:09 Reindeer, winter wishes and even a meeting with the big man himself.
01:13 No one of these students think Christmas is coming early.
01:15 Did you enjoy meeting the reindeer today?
01:17 Yeah!
01:18 What was your favourite part about meeting all Santa's reindeer?
01:21 Feeding them, tickles.
01:24 And are you excited for Christmas?
01:26 Yeah!
01:27 Ten more things before Christmas.
01:29 Did you enjoy feeding them?
01:31 Yeah!
01:32 And you're about to meet Santa, are you excited as well?
01:35 Yeah!
01:36 What was your favourite part of meeting the reindeer?
01:38 Feeding it.
01:39 Feeding it?
01:40 And touching it.
01:41 Smelling them.
01:42 Smelling them?
01:43 Yeah.
01:44 They smell like my home country, I'm used to it.
01:46 And would it really be a meeting with Santa if you didn't get rewarded for being on the
01:50 nice list?
01:51 However, with many families going cold this Christmas, these presents have a deeper purpose.
01:57 Unfortunately in today's society we still have children that come to school without
02:01 coats on, so this just ensures that we can make sure that they keep their hands warm
02:05 during the day and do our bit to support them.
02:07 With the cost of living crisis still looming, events like these have never been so important
02:12 to families across the county.
02:14 But before we go, I've managed to nab an exclusive interview with Prancer over here.
02:20 Prancer, have you enjoyed today?
02:22 He's a little bit camera shy, isn't he?
02:26 And there's Dancer as well!
02:27 Wow, what an amazing day here at the primary school.
02:31 All of Leeds and the South wishing a Merry Christmas for KMTV.
02:34 Merry Christmas!
02:35 Merry Christmas!
02:35 - Thank you!
