00:00 The backlog of the Land Transportation Office for plastic driver's licenses has reached the end of 2023.

00:06 But the office said that the plastic cards they ordered will arrive.

00:10 Here is my report.

00:12 Rina lost her driver's license.

00:17 That's why she immediately renewed it.

00:19 But like many applicants who renewed their licenses, Rina only got a paper.

00:24 It's okay. At least I have something to show.

00:28 The good news is, the LTO said,

00:30 4 million plastic driver's license cards will arrive

00:34 that they are preparing to distribute throughout the country.

00:37 This is enough to wipe out the backlog and our current usage.

00:42 So when we make the announcement, those who will renew their licenses,

00:45 they can expect that they will not get a paper.

00:47 We are back on track as far as plastic cards are concerned.

00:50 Despite the alleged injunction against the use of LTO

00:54 for more than 3 million plastic driver's license cards,

00:58 a bidder was fined last October.

01:00 We are waiting for that.

01:02 Maybe that's Valentine's good news.

01:05 It's a waste. That's another 3.2 million licenses.

01:10 That's really enough.

01:12 Every year, 6.5 million new licenses are issued by the LTO.

01:17 But because of the accelerated bidding and government-to-government license printing agreement

01:21 that the LTO entered, the agency promised that there will be no backlog like before.

01:27 The LTO also promised to buy new cars.

01:31 After getting the car for three days,

01:33 the driver should be able to get their new license plates OR and CR.

01:38 If not, the LTO will issue a show post order against the car dealership

01:43 or their regional LTO officers that are slow in issuing their license plates.

01:47 The license plates are already there. We are advanced. We are already pre-positioned in the regions.

01:52 So there's no reason why the license plates should not be issued immediately.

01:56 The LTO clarified in the news that they will relax in implementing their no registration, no travel policy.

02:02 It doesn't mean that it will not be implemented.

02:05 They will just give a warning, unlike before,

02:08 that the car will be impound immediately when it travels without registration.
