Sean Payton Stopping Detroit Lions Running Game and Admiration for Dan Campbell

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton and Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell go back a long way.

00:18 Last week, the Chargers, I mean, just keep go down the line.

00:21 They've done a tremendous job offensively.

00:26 Johnny Morton, our passing game coordinator was just there a year ago.

00:32 Dan hired Ben to coordinate the offense and he's been fantastic.

00:37 They run the ball out of two back sets, which I like, and you see that.

00:43 They get to certain menus to take advantage of what they're seeing.

00:48 A couple runs, three passes, they're very detail oriented.

00:54 You see it on tape, they're well coached.

00:56 And then you take the young tight end and you take the receiver and

01:01 you take the two backs and the quarterback and they've been impressive.

01:05 It's a tape that I watch each week.

01:09 It's one of those offenses that they're doing a lot of good things.

01:14 And it's evident on the film and in the statistics.

01:19 And it's one of the reasons they're winning.

01:24 And there's so many ties for me with this staff.

01:28 Obviously, I've been with Dan.

01:30 I was in New York when we drafted him.

01:31 When I went to Dallas, I convinced Bill to sign him as a free agent.

01:38 And I signed him later in New Orleans as a player.

01:41 And then I spent the better part of two or three years trying to hire him as a coach.

01:44 And I was lucky enough eventually to.

01:47 And he became assistant head coach and

01:49 I have tremendous respect for everything about him.

01:54 What he stands for, how he coaches.

01:57 And then you have Aaron Glenn, who I hired, who's the same way,

02:01 gonna be a head coach, fabulous player, tremendous coach,

02:07 tremendous, these guys, Alex, you got Mark Burnell.

02:12 There's a number of guys with a lot of ties.

02:14 And so as a former head coach of theirs, you're proud of them.

02:19 You really are.
