World’s Loudest Hummer Boasts 86 Speakers | Ridiculous Rides

  • last year
86 SPEAKERS, 11 amplifiers, and more than a mile of LED light wiring have been crammed into an H2 Hummer to create a deafening party-mobile. Rafael Capone has modified cars all his life, but his ‘Soul Asylum H2’ Hummer, built to promote his recording studio of the same name, has taken things to a new level. The speaker-packed behemoth has been dominating car show competitions around Rafael’s native Atlanta, wowing crowds with its all-custom interior and LED light set-up. Rafael told Barcroft Media: “No piece of this car was left factory. The reaction when we pull up is always a, ‘Wow, I love your car’.

00:00 The reaction when we pull up in the Solosound H2 is always a wow.
00:05 We usually start with sound quality, we just get used to that.
00:10 We just wham them on the bass.
00:26 I'm Raphael Capone, the owner of the Solosound Studios Group, and here we have the Solosound H2.
00:32 The amount of speakers in the Solosound H2 is 86.
00:50 We want sound quality at loud, natural volumes versus just blaring, hurting your ears loud.
00:56 We've had many clients that use Solosound Studios.
01:05 TI, Future, Justin Bieber, Rocco, Jeezy.
01:16 The Solosound H2, we use it for marketing, promotion, brand awareness, charity, competition.
01:24 I want to thank everybody for showing up. I'm sure Jason's smiling.
01:28 This is the show that you probably already know.
01:42 We average at least 100 car shows a year. That's not including meets.
01:47 We average just over 250, sometimes 300, under 300 trophies a year.
01:56 I made the Solosound H2 because it isn't the first of its kind.
02:07 In 1990, when I was still in the military, my first show vehicle was built.
02:12 That was my passion.
02:15 Of course, I wanted to open up a recording studio, but I wanted to do both.
02:19 I built a show vehicle. It was called the Motown Soldier.
02:23 It became world famous back then.
02:25 We got this in the end of 2014.
02:28 In 30 days, we put all the LED lights on it.
02:31 We got a system going in it. We put the wheels on it. We put the graphics on it.
02:36 We started doing shows. It was cool.
02:39 When building it, my main focus was sound quality.
02:43 I wanted to be loud, but I wanted sound quality.
02:45 I wanted to what I hear in the studio to hear on the road.
02:47 All of our speakers are doing different things.
02:50 Let's say we have 10-10s,
02:52 6 tweeters,
02:56 14 horns,
02:59 12 subs,
03:02 8 mid-bass speakers, 8 mid-ring speakers.
03:05 We've been told up to 3 miles away, we've been heard.
03:09 Sometimes on the weekend, I'll prepare for a show and I'll be testing and tuning.
03:13 A cop pulled up.
03:15 He was like, "What are you doing?"
03:18 I was like, "I have a championship show tomorrow. I'm trying to set the system."
03:22 He was like, "I was 2.5 miles away and just followed the sound to you."
03:26 I was like, "Okay, I'll cut it off."
03:28 He was such a nice cop. He said, "I'm going to give you 15 more minutes.
03:31 I'll cancel all the 911 calls, just complaining about the sound.
03:34 Get your system right and I hope you win."
03:37 I took those 15 minutes and I set the system.
03:41 We did that show the next day and we came back with 12 trophies.
03:44 One show.
03:46 Trying to get 86 speakers,
03:48 11 amplifiers,
03:50 3 miles of copper wiring,
03:52 3 alternators, 7 batteries,
03:54 DSP,
03:56 and a vehicle this size.
04:00 Everything had to be designed.
04:01 Even our pillars, which are easily overlooked,
04:25 are custom pillars that house tweeters.
04:29 We have a red chrome wrap with the red chrome matching wheels.
04:31 Then we have all of our microphone switches.
04:33 We can cut on up to 5 microphones
04:36 and have 5 live mics going at the same time
04:40 because we have a studio grade mixer.
04:42 This is my favorite microphone, so it stays up here with me.
04:46 The mics we let people use are in the back.
04:48 A nice iPad in the dash.
04:51 All our switches have been moved.
04:55 The coolest thing,
04:58 even though we pulled our iPad out,
04:59 we still have our radio controls.
05:01 On a quick glance, that's the SolarCylon H2.
05:04 A very diverse, multi-control, 86 speaker,
05:10 mobile stage,
05:12 sound quality, SPL build.
05:15 The nice thing about the SolarCylon H2 is it isn't slow.
05:18 It's top speed, 105 miles an hour
05:21 in this big, beautiful, heavy vehicle.
05:24 I'll let you guys just think about what it could possibly cost.
05:27 But we did buy the Hummer used for $40,000.
05:30 If you just take our amps and speakers
05:34 in a box, unshipped from Match Pro Audio,
05:38 you're looking at over $35,000 just in a box.
05:42 Best I can give you on prices.
05:45 If we ever sold the H2,
05:47 it would definitely have to be someone
05:49 that was going to use it for charity
05:51 or use it for what we're using it for.
05:53 It couldn't just go and be locked up in some garage.
05:56 If you want me money to buy the SolarCylon H2
05:57 without hesitation, it would be for a quarter million dollars.
05:59 When it gets dark, the SolarCylon H2 is bananas.
06:04 We have won world titles for our LED lighting,
06:09 interior and exterior.
06:11 I'm a very humble person,
06:13 but we made people change up their lighting game.
06:16 We're very competitive.
06:18 Yes, I go to the shows to compete and to win
06:21 because I'm there representing my company at the same time.
06:25 We won.
06:26 And earned it.
