Kenworth W900: The Most Modified Truck In The World

TWO BROTHERS have given a 2000 Kenworth W900 L truck the ultimate custom rig – making it one of the world’s most modified trucks. Raul and Roland Mendez, from San Antonio, Texas are the ingenious minds behind the award-winning 750 horsepower, Kenworth, one of the most modified trucks in the world, known as Project TOC. The truck took almost a year and a half to complete and the brothers estimate they have customised over 90% of the truck, spending up to $180,000 in the process.

00:00The majority of the stuff on this truck is probably 90% custom, from the front to the back.
00:06A lot of the stuff on that truck is f***ing crazy s***.
00:13We built this rig to show everybody in the U.S. that we're the ones to beat and show what we can do.
00:18In San Antonio, Texas, the Mendez family of Texas Chrome have created what can only be described as the most customized truck in the world.
00:28If I was to describe this truck in three words, it would be simply badass.
00:34This is the Kenworth TOC.
00:37This truck took almost a year and a half to build. We have probably about 150,000 to 180,000 in it.
00:43This truck here has got about 750 horsepower.
00:48Perhaps the most impressive part of this customized truck is its completely unique and incredibly intricate paint job.
00:55The paint job on it took weeks and weeks and weeks of just hard work.
01:00The filigree design that was done on it, done by hand, and then of course we did the matching design on the wheels and also the stacks.
01:09What we're looking at here is eight different colors of paint.
01:12This paint job is crazy. I think here at Texas Chrome we've probably painted over 800 trucks in the last 10 years.
01:18And by far to me this is the baddest paint job I've ever seen.
01:21And it's not only the paint job that's totally unique.
01:24The rest of the truck is also customized from the ground up.
01:28We have a custom grill. This is an aluminum wheel.
01:32And the process to do this is sand and polish your aluminum wheel to perfection.
01:37Afterwards we got it engraved and the last process is dipping it in chrome.
01:42No detail has been spared as the inside also contains tons of unique features.
01:48Okay guys, on the interior it's an original dash.
01:51We wanted to keep it nice and clean and then we added some switches that we sell.
01:55Big old stick shift here that was actually engraved.
01:58I mean we have the total of 38 speakers and woofers combined.
02:02It just rocks the house.
02:04Even the motor has a story to tell.
02:08The motor was completely taken apart, rebuilt, painted piece by piece to give us this look that you see here.
02:15To mimic what we have on the truck.
02:17The actual turbo got dipped in chrome.
02:19Stainless steel pieces.
02:21Air charged cooler hoses.
02:23The truck was finished off with custom logos, custom lights and the ultimate custom grill.
02:29This is a custom truck.
02:31One light, chopper style.
02:33We matched the five lights up on the back of the sleeper to our front bumper.
02:37And we finished it off with a nice emblem here.
02:39Project TLC.
02:41The baddest truck ever built.
02:44Unsurprisingly, this truck has been gathering prestige.
02:48Getting stacks of awards.
02:52We showed it at the Dallas Truck Show a few years ago.
02:54And popped in there, pulled it into the convention center.
02:57The first response is like, I see our fellow competitors.
03:00They're looking at the truck and they walk towards it and they turn back.
03:05Like they don't even want to look at it man.
03:07They're just shitting their pants seeing the truck.
03:09This truck's taken pretty much all the top awards at the Dallas Truck Show.
03:13Of course it took best of show.
03:15It also took best engine, best interior and best paint.
03:18The truck gets notice wherever it goes.
03:21Much to the pride of the family.
03:23And seeing the people's smiles and the way they look at the engraving.
03:26They can't believe it the way they look at the paint.
03:28Makes me happy man.
03:29Makes me proud of what our team was able to accomplish with this truck.
03:33And it's far from over for the Mendez family.
03:36As their next project promises to be more impressive than ever.
03:40Next big project in the works is going to be Project 289.
03:43Which is going to be an older antique truck.
03:45Which is back in the day they had the needle nose hood.
03:47And I'm going to bring some of the cool modern stuff.
03:49Which is going to be bagging the front end.
03:51Custom paint, loud radio, a little bit of copper plating.
03:54Some of the new stuff people haven't seen in the custom truck world.
