00:00 Hello, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. We'll see sunny spells develop
00:04 for many areas of the UK through the rest of the afternoon. However, the cloud will
00:08 linger for some areas in the southeast. And you can see that cloud on the satellite picture
00:13 from this morning draped across central and southeastern areas. That's because we've got
00:17 a front that is pushing southeastwards across the country. Behind it is turning much clearer
00:22 and brighter, but you can see we've got tighter isobars, so that means the winds will strengthen
00:28 across northwestern areas and we'll continue to see some rain in the southeast where that
00:32 front lies. So that means across the northwest, we've got a breezy afternoon to come. Generally,
00:37 quite a lot of sunny spells still here, but some pesky showers as well. They could be
00:41 heavy at times. Across much of Northern Ireland, Northern England, Wales and parts of southwest
00:47 England will be a dry afternoon with plenty of sunny spells. However, in the south and
00:52 east, another dull and damp day with some drizzly rain continuing still into the afternoon
00:57 and it will be another cool feeling day across southeastern areas, highs of six or seven
01:02 degrees. By comparison, though, further west, it'll be a milder day than yesterday with
01:07 highs of around 11 or 12 degrees. And those clearer skies across western areas become
01:11 more widespread throughout tonight. So temperatures will drop off a little more widely tonight
01:16 to expecting a frost for some areas. We'll see some mist and fog developing in the south
01:20 and east where we've seen that drizzly rain through much of the day and also a touch of
01:25 frost here. Temperatures really dipping down to around minus one or two. But even where
01:29 we just see temperatures of around one degrees in the south and east, you could see a car
01:34 frost by tomorrow morning. However, in the north, where we've got the wind staying strong
01:39 throughout the night will be frost free and it will be another windy day across parts
01:43 of northern Scotland and the hills of northern England as well throughout much of Friday.
01:48 We'll also see clouds thicken through much of the day and some drizzly rain on and off.
01:53 The south and east, though, still stay dry through much of the day, particularly in the
01:57 south and east across East Anglia and Kent, where we have had quite a dull few days. It'll
02:02 be a much brighter afternoon tomorrow. However, after the chillier start, temperatures will
02:07 still struggle into the afternoon. By comparison, in the south and west, we've got temperatures
02:13 of around 11 or 12 degrees in the south and also in the north as we're picking up that
02:17 southerly wind direction, bringing in that milder air ahead of the weekend.
02:23 The rain will continue across northern areas through Friday evening and further south.
02:27 We'll see clouds thicken generally for many central and western areas, some drizzly rain
02:31 across parts of Wales, but it should stay dry across the east. And that theme does continue
02:37 into the weekend as we see high pressure continuing to dominate the weather across the south and
02:42 east, whilst frontal systems that could bring some waves to them could bring some persistent
02:47 rain to parts of northwest Scotland as well as northwest England. But if you'd like more
02:51 details on your full weekend forecast, make sure you catch our weekend update with Aidan
02:56 on YouTube a little later today. I'll see you later.
