Protesters force closure of Zara's Glasgow branch amid anger over the company's latest campaign.
Zara pulls ad campaign accused of mocking images from Gaza
Zara has pulled images of a recent ad campaign criticised for using photos resembling images from Israel’s war on Gaza.
The photos sparked major controversy among pro-Palestine groups, who called them the ‘the most disgusting thing ever seen’ as they staged walk-in protests at the fashion giant’s locations across the world on Monday.
he campaign featured models posing with ‘unfinished sculptures’ in a artist’s studio, which the retailer said was ‘created with the sole purpose of showcasing craft made garments in an artistic context’.
But the photos have drawn parallels to harrowing images emerging from Gaza as the besieged enclave continues to suffer constant bombardment.
Images of dead children and adults wrapped in white sheets and laid outside hospitals have sparked outrage around the world – and now Zara has been accused of ‘making fun’ of the situation with their Atelier campaign.
In response to the outrage, Zara removed the images and issued an apology, reading: ‘Unfortunately, some customers felt offended by these images, which have now been removed, and saw them in something far from what was intended when they were created.

00:07 Zara, Zara, you can't hide!
00:09 You support the genocide!
00:11 What do we want?
00:12 Peaceful!
00:13 What do we want, sir?
00:14 Love!
00:15 Peaceful!
00:16 Show us what you want!
00:17 Show us what you want!
00:19 We're here today because we want to tell everyone in the world
00:22 that we do not support Zara.
00:24 Their ad campaign is disgusting.
00:26 It shows that they support Israel.
00:28 And we will not take it.
00:30 So this protest started because Zara decided to run an ad campaign
00:34 showing people standing in a house that was full of rubble
00:37 and bodies in white shrouds,
00:40 which is what's going on in Palestine just now.
00:42 So that signifies every part of what's going on in Palestine.
00:45 That shows that these people in Palestine have been murdered.
00:49 These innocent people have been murdered in Palestine.
00:51 And that shows that Zara is supporting it.
00:54 The people of Glasgow are protesting today.
00:56 The people of Scotland are protesting today.
00:58 And these protests that haven't happened today,
01:00 they've been happening all over the UK to Zara,
01:03 in their stores, outside their stores,
01:05 because people are really angry about what they're doing.
01:08 And we will never support them.
01:09 And we want people to boycott them.
01:11 The message for Zara is shame on you.
01:13 We do not accept your apology.
01:15 And we will never, ever support your store ever again.
01:18 The thing that we need is the people that have made these comments,
01:21 made these ad campaigns, we need them out of their jobs.
01:24 And we need Zara to donate money to Palestine,
01:27 to show that they do care.
01:28 Because obviously it shows that they do not care one little bit.
01:31 There's a lot of support here.
01:33 A lot of people have been clapping and cheering and saying we're doing a great job.
01:36 There's a couple of little Bettys that want to get to Zara to get some shopping done.
01:40 But at the end of the day, we need to see the bigger picture here.
01:43 There's a genocide happening in Palestine.
01:45 And Zara have now contributed to it.
