00:00 Because Dr Hillary, we had a drama, didn't we?
00:02 A really, actually very, very serious drama with our Ruby.
00:05 She managed... I had in my bag,
00:08 I had chocolates wrapped up in my bag as a present.
00:11 It was inside my handbag.
00:12 She managed to get in there in the middle of the night,
00:15 ate a whole bit of chocolate and was very, very ill indeed.
00:19 So we had to rush her to the emergency room.
00:21 The vets took such good care of her.
00:23 Look at the poor wee soul.
00:24 They had to give her a drip, put her on a drip,
00:26 which is why she's got that wee bandage on.
00:29 And it was touch and go and it was really, really frightening.
00:31 I mean, you saw the state I was in.
00:33 I mean, honestly, thank you for helping me.
00:36 But this time of year, you've just got to be so, so careful
00:39 because they're into everything.
00:40 You've got to be careful all year round.
00:42 But chocolate's really bad for them, isn't it?
00:43 It happens so quickly, so easily.
00:46 Apparently, treatment for poisoning in dogs is 75% higher
00:51 in festive season than any other time of the year.
00:54 And, you know, chocolate's everywhere.
00:56 And so they get to it.
00:58 They sniff it out and they eat it.
00:59 But it contains a chemical called theobromine,
01:02 especially dark chocolate.
01:03 And theobromine makes them sick.
01:05 It gives them vomiting, diarrhoea.
01:07 They can get an irregular, rapid heartbeat, seizures.
01:10 A rehab is going.
01:11 Rest.
