Despite being appointed Plantation and Commodities Minister, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani says he still chairs the government’s 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) task force.
The Titiwangsa MP told reporters on Wednesday (Dec 13) after clocking in on his first day of work at the ministry, and when asked if he would be replaced on the task force, he replied: ”Let’s see later. Whoever is brave can do it”.

00:00 Assalamualaikum.
00:02 How are you?
00:04 I'm fine.
00:06 I'm sorry I'm late.
00:08 What is the responsibility of the 1MDP?
00:12 I remember that, as Dato' Siti Anwar said, when he told me about this responsibility,
00:18 he said he wanted to involve me in the Economic Council.
00:24 But I'll discuss that later.
00:26 What about your previous work?
00:28 We have done the 1MDP.
00:32 We are now monitoring the progress.
00:35 We will have an arbitration with the Government Sec.
00:39 We have a dispute because we all know that we have a dispute.
00:43 Because he did not fulfill the agreement that was signed in 2020.
00:52 When I became the arbitrator, I said that he had to pay according to the agreement.
01:00 But after we gave them four extensions, they still refused to pay the first payment, which was USD250 million.
01:12 So the reason they refused to pay was that every settlement we made with M-Bank and IPIC,
01:20 they felt that it was one of the recovery we made.
01:26 Actually, it does not include the concept of recovery.
01:28 Recovery is when we look for things that are out there that have been lost through 1MDP,
01:37 but what we get from M-Bank and IPIC is more of a settlement, not recovery.
01:41 That's the dispute.
01:43 So they tried to bring it to the arbitration to get the government to decide whether they are still in debt with us or not.
01:53 That's all.
01:55 Thank you.
01:56 InsyaAllah, at this moment I am still.
02:00 Okay, thank you.
02:02 We will see who is willing to do it.
02:06 Thank you.
02:07 Thank you, guys.
02:08 Thank you.
02:09 Thank you.
02:10 Thank you.
