Cardiff’s favourite Christmas movies

  • last year
‘Tis the season to watch Christmas films. There have been hundreds and new ones come out every year. Some classics have lasted decades, and others have become a favourite in the last few years. There are plenty, from Elf to Holiday Inn. Nativity is my favourite, but what do the people of Cardiff say.

00:00 Nightmare before Christmas. And the Grinch. And the Grinch. Got to be the Grinch. Yes,
00:07 yes. Yes, got to be. Got to be done. Never used to be one for Christmas, but I only am
00:11 now because of my daughter. She loves it. Loves the music. Yeah, absolutely. And loves
00:16 Jim Carrey and the Grinch, because he's amazing. Yes, the same with the other grandchildren.
00:21 There's four of them that absolutely love the Grinch. There's nothing nasty in it. It's
00:25 not horrible. There's no swearing. There's no nasty. So it's suitable for everybody.
00:30 Die Hard is my first one. And there's a bit of a debate over whether it's a Christmas
00:34 movie. But yeah, it's one of my favourites. And I like, what's the one? Oh, what's it
00:42 called? It's really funny. It's Chevy Chase. I was just going to say that. Yeah. Griswold's,
00:47 isn't it? Christmas. Yeah. That's it. National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. It's one of my
00:52 favourites because no matter how many times you see it, you can always laugh. Yeah. Yeah,
00:56 that's one of my favourite ones. Yeah. I was watching one the other day with, was it Deck
01:01 the Halls with Danny DeVito. That was funny as well. Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby. And
01:10 that's because I love when Christmas and the Wees sings it in it. I think it's absolutely
01:14 lovely. What about you? You're different to me. I've got very many different ones. It's
01:20 a wonderful life. It's a classic. It's one I first looked at as a young man, very young
01:30 man. And the idea of what goes through that is so, so pleasing. Yeah, the Elf film, Christmas
01:40 Elf. Yeah, really great, great comedy and an all time classic. And it's a film that you
01:46 can watch over and over again and you always find a little bit of something else that's
01:50 funny. And it's a good one for any age really, right across the family. We all enjoy it and
01:57 we always put it on at Christmas. Polar Express. I remember taking my little boys to see Polar
02:03 Express and that's a really charming film that we have always enjoyed and really well
02:11 acted by Tom Hanks. For me, Die Hard. Is that a Christmas film then? It's a Christmas time
02:17 movie I enjoy and Home Alone as well. That's one of my other favourites as well. They're
02:21 proper classics then. Yeah, proper classics. Absolutely. You can watch them all the time.
02:25 They're awesome. So my favourite Christmas show television programme is The Snowman.
02:32 I absolutely love it. I watch it every year. And my second favourite is the one with the
02:37 tortoise backwards and Anger Trot with GD Dent. Just absolutely hilarious. Santa Claus
02:43 the movie every time with Dudley Moore as the gnome. And what they do to Father Christmas,
02:51 but they are certainly punished in the end and then Father Christmas comes through and
02:57 it's the most realistic. It is the Father Christmas in that film. It is the one.
