An Israeli soldier named Master Sergeant Gil Daniels, of Indian origin, was killed in the conflict in the Gaza Strip. His funeral took place in Ashdod after his death during the ongoing war. Gil, aged 34, was praised by the Indian Jewish Heritage Centre for his dedication.
