Dallas Cowboys BREAKING: Surgery for Coach Mike McCarthy; OK For Philadelphia Eagles on ‘SNF’?

00:13 McCarthy rolled out of bed and felt something wrong.

00:18 And what is wrong is he has acute appendicitis and has gone in for emergency surgery.

00:24 The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys will not be part of practice today, probably not

00:29 part of practice on Thursday.

00:31 The Cowboys do say that they expect him to be ready to roll on Sunday night football

00:35 when the Philadelphia Eagles are here.

00:36 Eagles come in of course at 10-2, the Cowboys are 9-3.

00:40 Cowboys could use all hands on deck and hopefully for them McCarthy will be back.

00:46 For now, the defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will move up and help oversee practices as

00:51 will the offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

00:55 Also involved obviously the special teams coordinator Bones Fossil.

00:58 Dan Quinn and Schottenheimer will take turns the next couple days meeting the McCarthy

01:03 media obligations.

01:05 This is a crack in the armor of Cowboys preparation.

01:10 There's no way to get around that.

01:13 That is not saying anything negative about what Quinn can do.

01:16 In fact, a couple years ago in December of 2021 when McCarthy came down with COVID and

01:21 was ruled out, Quinn was the overseer of a Cowboys win at the Saints and that can certainly

01:27 happen again.

01:28 In this case, if for some reason McCarthy can't go, Quinn might be the head coach going

01:34 through the next few days and then Schottenheimer of course would be the offensive play caller.

01:39 But Cowboy fans crossing their fingers that Big Mike ends up being okay which is the likely

01:44 prognosis here.

01:45 But for now, the Cowboys prepare for the Eagles without the benefit of their head coach being

01:53 on campus with the Cowboys and Fristol Fish out.
