00:00 This is George Priestman reporting in the aftermath of Sean Dyche's press conference
00:03 ahead of their visit of Newcastle in the Premier League tomorrow night.
00:07 Team news was first as always and obviously Dominic Cavallari did miss out last week but
00:13 the good news is he is in contention for this week's game having trained this week and he
00:18 should be in the thinking for this weekend as Dyche confirmed.
00:23 One player who will struggle to make this game however is Amadou Onana.
00:26 He has missed the last three Premier League games due to a calf injury and he is unlikely
00:29 to play this weekend as Dyche confirmed he will be touching goal having only just got
00:33 back on the grass today.
00:36 Another player that Dyche asked about was Andrew Gomez.
00:38 He has yet to feature this season.
00:39 He has only been part of one matchday squad as well and he has missed a lot of football
00:43 through a calf injury but even though he has had a frustrating season so far he played
00:47 65 minutes for the U21s in their final win over Southampton last night but he is still
00:52 a bit away from full fitness as Dyche confirmed so we won't see him in the matchday squad
00:56 this weekend.
00:57 One thing I asked Dyche at the end of the press conference was about Dwight McNeil and
01:00 his goal scoring potential after he scored the winner against Nottingham Forest over
01:05 the weekend.
01:06 It was a brilliant finish and Dyche said that he has that in his locker, he can score from
01:09 short or long range and he scores plenty of goals in training so it will be interesting
01:13 to see if we can see McNeil add more goals to his game as the season progresses.
01:17 He was quizzed a couple of times about their home form.
01:20 Obviously it is really poor this season, they have only won one from seven which was the
01:24 3-0 win against Bournemouth at home and they have only scored five goals in seven games
01:28 at Goodison Park and obviously three of them came in one game.
01:32 So that is obviously a huge issue for Everton going forward but their away form has been
01:35 incredibly strong and Dyche said there is nothing he can take from those away games
01:38 other than the fact that they just need to put the ball in the back of the net.
01:41 He will take anything at the weekend against Newcastle given how poor their form has been
01:45 at Goodison.
01:46 In terms of Newcastle this weekend, they have 11 injuries to contend with the first team
01:50 that includes Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, Callum Wilson, Dan Byrne, Matt
01:55 Target, Javier Manquillo, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson and Sven Bottman who are all out
02:01 of action.
02:02 The only other doubtful for the game was Anthony Gordon who came off in the win over United
02:05 having scored the winner but it is likely he will be available for the game after recent
02:09 revelations from Eddie Howe today.
02:10 In terms of their previous meetings, there is not much Dyche can take from their last
02:14 meeting at Goodison Park in April where they were heavily beaten 4-1 on the day by a Newcastle
02:18 side that were pushing for Champions League football.
02:21 The narrative is definitely different from that day.
02:24 Obviously, Newcastle have major injuries and Everton have definitely improved as a side
02:27 and as a squad in terms of their quality but Newcastle still pose an incredibly tough threat
02:31 and they are one of the best teams in the Premier League so it is going to be incredibly
02:34 difficult for Everton to get something out of the game, especially at Goodison where
02:37 they have been in really poor form this season.
02:39 But having earned a 1-0 win against Forest last time out, they will take that confidence
02:44 and take it to Newcastle and any points they can get from this game will be definitely
02:49 a huge bonus.
