A 12-year-old street dancer from Skegness has been crowned UK champion. Caris Black is a member of Top Limitz Dance Academy who entered the 101 UK Championships at the K2 Arena in Crawley. The group also came away with a trophy for coming third overall.

01:10 - How long have you been street dancing?
01:13 - Since I was like six years old.
01:15 - You must love it.
01:17 - Yeah.
01:18 - Yeah, well, why do you love it so much?
01:21 - It just like brings out my personality
01:24 and it just makes me really happy.
01:27 - Now, you must be really pleased
01:29 that you did so well at this competition
01:31 up against some really, you know, big competition,
01:36 weren't you?
01:37 - Yeah.
01:38 - Were you surprised to do so well?
01:40 - Yeah.
01:41 - So what are you hoping to do now
01:45 into some more competitions?
01:46 - Yeah.
01:48 When I came first, I literally started crying.
01:50 I was literally, I didn't expect to come first.
01:52 I thought I was like gonna like come second or something,
01:55 but I was really surprised when I came first.
01:58 - Luke, you must be really proud of your team.
02:03 - I'm so proud.
02:04 I completed Dutch King first, championed UK.
02:08 It's amazing.
02:09 She should be humble though, don't stay big-headed.
02:14 Next year, you've got to hold that title.

02:21 Now the whole team did well as well, didn't they?

02:30 and they did amazing to go against a lot of people.

02:35 We didn't get first place,
02:36 'cause the weather's actually really nice.

02:41 were adults and professional as well.

02:48 - 17 overs and most of the categories
02:50 will be professionals, will be dance teachers.
02:52 And like I said, I've got 11 year olds
02:55 that are performing against them.
02:57 So to come third, obviously it's a achievement.
03:00 - So for the people that don't know, you are top limits.
03:04 And how long have you been in Skageness?
03:06 - I've been in Skageness since 2011,
03:09 but I've been teaching since 2012.
03:12 Finally got my own place, my own little dojo, I'd say.
03:17 And yeah, I'm going to keep on moving,
03:20 keep on standing and keep being strong.
03:23 - And how many young people have you got?
03:25 - It goes from like age four to like over 20
03:29 and we've got about 50 students.
03:31 - Wow, so there's room for more?
03:34 - Of course, we always room for more.
03:36 Keep going, keep on standing, empire.
03:38 - Mum Shelly here, you must be really proud.
03:41 - I am, I'm very, very proud.
03:43 I'm absolutely over the moon
03:45 that she's actually got the champion title,
03:49 just makes me feel proud as a mum.
03:52 And hopefully she'll keep going, following in her footsteps
03:55 and hopefully we'll keep progressing as time comes on,
03:59 as she's still got plenty of time ahead.
04:01 - She certainly does.
04:03 And do you enjoy street dance as well?
04:05 - I used to dance, unfortunately, not no more.
04:08 But yeah, I used to.
04:10 Not as good as what Paris is, but I tried my best.
04:17 - I can see an adult class coming up here, don't you think?
04:21 - Yes, definitely, love it, yeah.
