Jovana & Nikola Trišić + Dragiša Jakovljević's Fatal Crash @ Tara 2012

While competing at the Mt. Tara hillclimb, driver Branislav Simić from Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, lost control of his yellow Mitsubishi Lancer and crasjed into a crowd standing on the outside of a fast right-hander. It happened at about 12h30 on Sunday, 19 August 2012.

Nikola Trišić, 30, his sister Jovana Trišić, 27, both from Bajina Basta, Serbia, and Dragiša Jakovljević, age unknown, from Petrovac na Mlav, Serbia. The seventeen-year old son of the latter, Stefan Jakovljević, seriously injured was taken to Užice hospital. All of them with at least dozens of others, were standing in an area which was prohibited to spectators.

The accident happened during the hillclimb "Tara 2012" held near the village of Bajina Bašta on the Mt. Tara, a mountain which is part of Dinaric Alps and stands at 1,500 metres above sea level, close to the Bosnia and Herzegovina border, about 100 kilometer southwest of Belgrade, Serbia. After the tragedy, the event was immediately stopped. Bosnian driver Branislav Simić announced his retirement from racing.
