00:00 So tell me why you're here today.
00:03 I'm Pierce Whitehouse, local rep for TransLink Engineering.
00:08 I'm here with Raymond Murphy, United Quality Officer in Craigalban.
00:14 We're on strike here today, for we've been offered a 0% increase from TransLink
00:25 due to cuts and underfunding from the DFA and it's the working class who's been left to suffer.
00:33 And what would you say to management or the powers that be about negotiating your pay?
00:44 I wouldn't say... I believe that management understand why we're here and they'd agree with us.
00:52 We don't want to get into a blame game and pointing fingers at one another's installment and being used as a pawn.
01:02 I would say local MLAs and stuff to get on board and see our plate and try to back us in any way they can,
01:14 see where they can get their funding from.
01:17 There's a lot of concern about services being cut as well. What do you have to say about that?
01:23 Again, we don't want to be the ones who have to pull services or any cuts, anything for public transport.
01:34 We want to support the public in the best way we can.
01:37 But at the end of the day, it's the powers that be and the money that we're getting withdrawn from us
01:45 that is forcing TransLink to do these things.
01:51 We're on Picket here today not only for the 0% increase.
01:56 Local governments have threatened to pull the over-60s passes,
02:05 which we're on the Picket line trying to fight and retain policies and passes for the over-60s and keep them the way they are.
