00:02 >> Ross.
00:03 >> Hey James, do you have any type of message for
00:06 Derek when the Bulls are going home early in the game?
00:10 >> From my position, I'm always lifting Derek up.
00:13 But from the city's position, I agree with Tyron.
00:17 I believe that we gotta give them something to cheer for.
00:21 I know that can be difficult at times, but he was very resilient.
00:25 He answered the bell.
00:27 But to the fans, we function off your support.
00:32 And I know that we gotta come in and give y'all something to cheer for.
00:36 But just know that you impact us because we're trying to lift you up.
00:41 We're trying to put on the show for you.
00:44 So your support, your cheering,
00:48 the inspiration that you give us is this is why we do this.
00:51 We do this for you.
00:53 We wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for you all.
00:55 So I just encourage all of y'all to get behind us.
00:58 That's what this city is about.
01:00 This city is about resilience.
01:01 This city is about building and staying together.
01:04 And despite our record, despite what the situation is going on,
01:08 we gotta stand together.
01:11 Because the only people that can fix this is us, and that's y'all included.
01:15 That's the fans, that's the team, and that's it.
01:18 >> Does he dare go through what he has, just overweight with injuries and
01:24 kind of just battling through?
01:25 What have you kind of seen from him from how he's handled everything?
01:29 >> Yeah, my biggest thing is just continue to lift him up.
01:31 When you are a starting quarterback, a lot of things come with that.
01:36 But he's handling it the right way.
01:38 He's going out there doing his job.
01:40 He's out there going out there fighting for his team.
01:42 And that's that.
01:45 >> What's it like being kind of his teammate in terms of just,
01:47 not only supporting him, but also kind of mending up?
01:53 >> Yeah, any teammate that I have, I'm gonna lift them up.
01:56 I'm gonna speak life into them, despite what anyone can say.
02:00 You know what I'm saying?
02:01 We all out here, we're doing this for the glory of God.
02:03 We're doing this to glorify the Lord.
02:06 We're not doing this for no man.
02:07 We're not doing this for no woman.
02:08 It's not for that.
02:10 As a team, the Saints are offense, defense, special teams, and our fans.
02:15 We are a team.
02:17 Our fans are a part of our team.
02:19 I've been on opposite sides and
02:21 seen how this place was rocking and how that affected the other team.
02:25 But we all are one.
02:26 So if you are part of the Saints, I'm gonna speak life into you.
02:30 I'm gonna lift you up, whether that's Derrick, whether that's a specialist.
02:34 It doesn't matter who it is.
02:36 We are together and we gotta stay together.
02:37 We gotta stick together.
02:38 We gotta dig down and just keep believing and have faith.
02:42 >> Because you know what it's like.
02:43 Was it surprising today to see all the blue in the stands and all that?
02:46 [INAUDIBLE]
02:49 >> Yeah, it doesn't matter about them.
02:51 I'm talking about us.
02:52 I'm talking about who we are.
02:53 We're the Saints.
02:54 And since I've been a part of this organization,
02:57 we have always found a way to overcome any type of adversity.
03:00 And we always stuck together, because that's what it is.
03:03 That's that Southern love.
03:04 That's that New Orleans love.
03:06 That's that gumbo, a bunch of different mixtures.
03:08 Putting together in a pot and you make something beautiful.
03:10 And we still have opportunity to make something beautiful.
03:13 We just got to have our fans support, faith.
03:17 As a team, we have to go out there and put on a show.
03:20 Do our job.
03:21 I have to do my job better.
03:23 Everyone has accountability in this.
03:25 And we're gonna continue to increase and speak life and push forward.
03:32 >> James, how frustrating not to be able to come one more,
03:36 get one more drive in the end zone there at the end.
03:38 >> I think just the entire game, playing from behind.
03:43 As a team, we wanna get on top.
03:45 We wanna start dominating our opponent from the rip.
03:49 And that's gonna be our mission for this upcoming week.
03:52 >> How about for you, this is kind of an interesting season for you.
03:55 You've now had three different games, but
03:57 you don't know at the beginning of the day if you're gonna play or not.
03:59 You wanna put your best football out there, but
04:02 it's been some urgent situations sometimes.
04:04 How tough is that to play under that situation?
04:09 It's kind of a new thing for you.
04:09 >> I'm grateful for every opportunity.
04:12 I view it as a baseball perspective.
04:16 As the Coles are coming in, and even time a reliever coming in,
04:20 even time no matter if it's nine runs, if you're down nine zero,
04:23 no matter if you're up ten nothing.
04:25 You come in there to do a job and do your best.
04:28 And try to just, well, not try, but go out there and put on your best performance.
04:34 >> James, Alvin had a pretty historic day today.
04:38 Just how important was he to the success that y'all were able to find on offense?
04:41 >> Well, everything that we do goes to him.
04:44 He's the best player on our team.
04:46 And that's what he expects.
04:47 That's what we expect out of him.
04:49 I'm just grateful to be his teammate.
04:51 I'm proud of him.
04:52 I'm proud of how he comes to work every single day.
04:54 When you are in the locker room with a Hall of Fame guy,
04:57 they can just do whatever they wanna do.
04:59 But he comes with an approach.
05:00 He shows up on game day and puts on a show for all of them.
05:03 >> Can you talk about being able to come back and
05:07 how you can channel that, maybe that fight as far as going through this final
05:11 stretch of the season?
05:11 >> Well, I think it just starts with one play at a time.
05:14 And when you're fighting from behind, you're desperate.
05:16 You know what I'm saying?
05:17 You want it, it's like you want it.
05:18 But you don't wanna go out there and get beat.
05:20 I think that just starts with the initial punch.
05:22 You gotta be desperate.
05:24 Desperate when you think about the most influential boxers.
05:27 They go in there and every punch matters.
05:29 Every time they take a punch, it matters.
05:32 They're desperate for victory.
05:33 They're desperate for a win.
05:35 And I think that level of just want to,
05:38 that level of hunger kind of propels you in those situations.
05:42 >> Do you expect that that desperation will be present for
05:44 this team for the remaining five games of the season, whether you're leading or
05:48 trailing?
05:48 >> I do.
05:49 >> From your vantage point,
05:50 what will be the keys to straight up some wins going into the stretch?
05:53 >> It starts one play at a time.
05:55 Doing our job to the best of our abilities one play at a time.
05:58 >> Can I ask you a totally different topic?
06:02 Your school being knocked out of the playoff, what your reaction is to it?
06:06 >> My initial reaction, I was hurt,
06:08 especially with the defensive performance that we put on.
06:12 The amazing job by our head coach Mike Norville for
06:16 finding a way to wield a championship with this historic quarterback.
06:20 I think that it's way bigger than what we can see from the naked eye.
06:26 However, for the state, you are continuing to have an incredible season,
06:31 continue to persevere regardless of the naysayers,
06:34 regardless who tries to limit you from your destiny.
06:38 We're still not finished, we still gotta go and finish strong.
06:41 I just commend Mike Norville and that team for
06:45 rallying behind Jordan and playing great football.
06:48 Going into the swamp, playing against a tough team.
06:51 Anytime you're in a rivalry game, it's gonna be a tough game.
06:53 You saw that with Alabama and
06:54 Harvard, I think Alabama's the team that they put in front of us.
06:57 And finishing strong, when you're a champion, that feels good.
07:01 And I'm just proud of those guys.
07:04 I'm proud of our head coach for bringing another championship to Florida State.
07:10 [BLANK_AUDIO]
07:12 >> Thanks, James.
