00:00 I spoke to him at the end of the press conference about the right back situation.
00:03 Obviously, there's Nathan Patterson, Ashley Young and the returning Seamus
00:06 Goldman to consider for that position this weekend.
00:08 Hi, Sean, I just wanted to ask about the right back situation.
00:13 Obviously, you've got Seamus who's coming back.
00:15 There's Nathan Patterson as well, who's been in and out the side.
00:17 And obviously, Ashley Young has played there as well.
00:20 We know what Seamus brings, but I just wanted to ask, what does Nathan have to do to sort of hold down that position and make it his own?
00:25 Keep doing what he's doing, training well, maturing as a play,
00:28 still relatively young and inexperienced in the grand scheme of the Premier League,
00:31 but I think he's a very good player, still developing, still looking to develop.
00:35 He's got two... I mean, Miko's doing very well, quite obviously,
00:39 but with the age, the understanding, the experience of Young and Seamus,
00:43 then it's fair to say he can rub off on these players.
00:46 They're fantastic pros.
00:48 You know, Seamus and Young are fantastic pros, but they know deep down, they're not the future.
00:52 The future will be built from people like Pau and Miko and the like.
00:56 So they're growing and maturing all the time.
00:58 We're well aware of that and they're going along really well.
01:01 And Miko's currently playing very well.
01:04 Pau's got more to come, but I still think he's a very, very good player.
01:07 Would you say there's sort of a mentorship role there for Seamus?
01:10 Yes, it's not literal, but you want the likes of Young and Seamus to rub off on all the players with their experience.
01:16 But equally with the full-back areas.
01:18 I mean, Young has played higher up the pitch many times,
01:21 but obviously, Latterley in his career went more to that full-back role.
01:24 But I think with Seamus as well, coming back to full fitness, he was great around the group.
01:30 But their awareness of the role and it just rubs off,
01:32 you know, being the top pros that they are on a daily basis, it rubs off on the younger players.
01:35 And Pau's certainly one of them.
01:37 But he's a very good player in his own right and he continues to improve.
01:40 Sorry, just one on there.
01:42 What would you say to the fans who maybe get frustrated seeing that, maybe Nathan coming in out the side,
01:45 because a lot of fans do really like him, like we've seen so far?
01:48 Yes, fans get frustrated about lots of different things.
01:50 I've become aware of that.
01:52 So you can't please everyone all the time.
01:54 You know, I work with these players and my staff work with these players every single day,
01:59 well, virtually, part of my day off, of course, see them at close quarters.
02:02 And I think we're aware of the players, what they're doing, how they're playing and their development.
02:07 Not so much the older players, different kind of development, more their professional development,
02:11 but the younger players, how they're developing with their individual basics,
02:15 the idea of what they're doing, how they're going about it and all of these things.
02:18 So we do see them every day, you know, virtually.
02:20 So we've got a good handle, I think, on when they're ready and how long they go in for,
02:23 how long they come out for, etc, etc.
02:25 And when's the right time to play them?
02:27 And I think that's part of our skill set and being in the game for so long.
02:30 Thanks very much.
