00:00 All right, we have a lot to cover this hour, starting with breaking news in the district.
00:03 Let's get right out to Homa in the newsroom.
00:05 Homa, a lot of this just happened over the last few minutes.
00:08 Hey, good morning, guys.
00:09 Yeah, right off the top at 9A, breaking news in the district.
00:11 A large police presence at the Capitol after a car crashes into a barricade.
00:16 Here's a live look.
00:17 Let's get right to Bob Barnard, who just got to the scene.
00:20 With the breaking details, Bob, what can you tell us right now?
00:23 Well, Homa, we're at the intersection of D Street and South Capitol Street.
00:29 The Acura with Florida plates is right behind me.
00:32 You see it went head first into one of these barricades here that's on South Capitol between
00:39 the Rayburn and Longworth House Office buildings.
00:41 We are told, and as you can see, the airbags deployed.
00:45 We're told that nobody was hurt badly, nobody killed, but we're not sure the exact condition
00:51 of the person or persons who were in this car.
00:54 Capitol Police just, you know, standing over it, beginning their investigation, so we have
01:00 not gotten a lot of details, although Fox News is telling us they don't believe, and
01:04 their sources are telling them that they don't believe this was a deliberate attack, that
01:08 this car deliberately tried to get onto the Capitol complex by crashing through these
01:13 barricades, even though that's what happened, straight on into it.
01:17 So this may just be some kind of an accident.
01:20 How the driver wouldn't have seen the barricades here, or if they did and were confused or
01:23 what have you, we just don't know.
01:25 But it is a car with Florida plates and Acura, and this is under investigation right here.
01:31 And traffic is moving slowly in this area.
01:34 Capitol Police have a number of streets blocked off at this point here around South Capitol,
01:39 kind of between Independence and D Street, where we are now.
01:43 So if you're heading this way, keep that in mind.
01:45 But the investigation is kind of just getting underway, Marissa.
01:49 And again, we don't know how many people were in this car, but one of the Capitol Police
01:52 officers here on the scene said that everybody's okay, whatever that means.
01:56 We'll still look to see what happened there, but thanks for the latest at this hour, Bob.
